10 tips to conquer the mid semester slump

Well you're half way through the semester and probably more exhausted than ever. Alls you have been doing it feels is making flash cards, memorizing facts, and studying until you can't study anymore. Here's the good news...midterms are over and you can actually relax, at least for a little bit. These are some tips to keep school exciting, and your motivation high to finish the semester.

1. Once you're done your actual exams, speeches and presentations, relax. You've had a busy week or two and continuing to stress yourself out about school work will just lead to less sleep and more pimples.

2. Don't overthink your performance on the exam or you might not be happy with the grade you got

3. Sleep. I couldn't think of a better time to recommend getting sleep. After midterms are over most of the craziness that comes along with school and school work should have calmed down which means extra time to catch some z's.

4. Something I always suggest is taking time for yourself. A work out, a night to read, just something that reminds you, you can make it to the end of midterms week.

5. Take a day off from doing homework. I'm not saying skip class I'm just saying you don't have to do homework and you can make sure you're refreshed and ready for the 2nd half of the semester to start.

6. Wherever you are at school there has to be lots of things to do. Go do something you've never done before. Maybe go run at a new spot, eat at a different restaurant. Experience life as it happens.

7.Give yourself a small reward. After a lot of exams or when I am super stressed, after I get all my work done I allow myself a reward, sometimes its a cookie or sweet treat, other times a day off from the gym or getting sleep in ungodly late on Saturday morning.

8. Some may disagree with me but I know sometimes when I really need a break or just a chance to feel like I can breathe I want to go home. Sometimes it's hard but seeing your parents, friends, or grandparents is really nice

9. Volunteering always makes me feel better, and is a way to relax but still kind of keeps you busy. If you want sometime to yourself but not be absolutely lazy see if the local animal shelters or places similar could use the extra help. You get to see puppies, help your community and give back it is a win-win-win situation.

10. My dad always taught me that a good jam sesh fixes most things and gets you prepared and refreshed to finish the work ahead that needs done. My advice blare your favorite music. It'll make you happier and put you in the right mood to study.

These tips are to help you get through the middle of the semester blues and help you finish strong. Remember Thanksgiving break is a few weeks away!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
