So it was the end of the world. Congratulations, you somehow survived it. July 29th was the special date. The poles have reversed and the world is in shambles from mega earthquakes. The stars apparently flew across the night sky during this fiasco. The cause and the outcome is unknown. Luckily, you did not perish in this event. Somehow the odds were on your sidd. Few have survived, and you have no contacts. Nobody has survived around you. Compasses and technology no longer work. Stop the self loathing and crying. You can survive. This is what you need to do to survive. The order is irrelevant. All are important in their own way.
1. Find a proper Shelter
Staying in your home might be impossible if it was destroyed in the quake or you need to move where it is warmer. Maybe that RV you wanted to buy would have been a good idea. Maybe get one from a dealer and drive off.
2. Get rations
You do not want to starve or be dehydrated. The water might not be flowing through the pipes for a long time, or never again. Try to be around a clean source or get a good purifier. Stock up on all the bottled water if you can. Also try to collect water in bins outside or from condensation with plastic and a container.
3. Have medical supplies
You will never know if you will scrape your knee, or if you will drop your trusty knife on your foot. A fever or illness is possible if you do not stay clean during your survival period. An infection could be deadly.
4. Proper hygiene
This might be commonsense to some, but staying clean is vital in this situation. Take care of yourself. You only have one body. Make sure hygienic items are within your stockpile of supplies.
5. A form of protection
Cannibals could be in the world now, or a wild animal could come attack you. That could be dinner (the animal, not other people). It is better to be safe than sorry. Use something you know how to maintain, and know how to use. Do not be the idiot that survives the apocalypse and shoot themselves in the foot.
6. Hunting supplies
You may have never hunted or fished in your life before day zero (the day it all ended), but now it is vital to your survival. Just hope animals have survived with you.
7. Grow food
Learning how to garden is vital. Canned goods can only survive for a certain amount of time. Besides, fresh produce will make a great difference to old food. The food you grew was with your sweat and strength. Cherish your creation.
8. Find a companion
Human or animal will be a good idea to look for. Perhaps your dog survived, or your significant other survived with you. If not, look for survivors that are not horrible people to be around. Solicitude will not help, staying sane will be important for you to live.
9. Find as many books as possible
Reading material will keep you busy, and can help teach topics unknown before. FInding textbooks can help you in multiple ways you could never believe.Books contain knowledge, and knowledge is power. Outsmarting fellow survivors can keep you in control, and keep you safe. Also entertainment will keep your mind off of your dire situation.
10. Keep a journal
This will help document how many days it has been since day zero. Writing down your notes on your surroundings, and what you did for the day can help you out. Keeping track of every odd thing (either surroundings or from oneself) will help you out extremely. You will be able to figure out what you have if sick (read up on those medical textbooks you find). Plus it will help determine when your crops are finished.
Hopefully these tips are kept in your mind as you try to survive in the new world around you. Good luck. May the odds be ever in your favor.
