Finals week is chaotic and stressful. Here are some tips to help ease the week.
1. Get some sleep
To be focused during an exam, sleep is a key component. If we don’t get sleep it will be hard to stay awake during the actual test.
2. Use the library
Studying in our dorm rooms can be very distracting. We have libraries at our colleges for a reason! SO USE IT!
3. Caffeine
Sometimes it can be so hard to keep our eyes open, Coffee will help us when we are studying and taking our final.
4. Study alone
In some cases, it is great to have a study group. It can also sometimes be very distracting. Know when the right time to study with friends is, and if it gets too distracting, study alone.
5. Take a break
Staring at our notes for 5 hours straight does no good. Sometimes we need a break to refresh our minds. Walk around for a little or get a stretch in, and then get back to studying.
6. Eat
Do not forget nutrition! When studying, we tend to forget a very important part: eating. Then we are sitting in a quiet space and our stomach lets out a growl (oh no!) Don’t be that person. Eat a snack for energy to study and take your tests.
7. Breathe
Anxiety is a killer. We can become so caught up in worrying about finals we forget to just breathe. (Breathe in, now out)
8. Know how to study
Everyone has different tactics to succeeding on tests. (Maybe it's note cards, practice tests, or memory games). Know them in advance to assure good solutions on the finals.
9. Organization
We can’t study when we don’t know which paper is for what class. Stay organized with notes and class papers. This way, when it comes to studying, we have one less thing to worry about.
10. Focus
You got this! Stay focused and remember to keep a positive attitude. Good luck!
