As wonderful as summer is, some people tend to start bad habits during these short months, such eating unhealthy food, staying up late and other that don't really help our health. However, summer break can be the perfect opportunity to start new, healthy tendencies that will last throughout the school year. Here are a 10 tips that can help you live healthily.

1. Drink more water.

Although you may have heard this a thousand times, I can't emphasize this enough to you. Our bodies are made up of over 60 percent of water and we need water for our bodies to function. A few benefits of drinking more water include: relieved fatigue, weight loss and it improves our mood.

2. Get enough sleep.

Yes, I know it's summer. And yes, I know Netflix is great. However, getting enough rest can help boost your creativity, strengthen your immune system and get rid of your under-eye circles.

3. Eat more colorful foods.

Why should you eat healthier? Well, fruits and vegetables are filled with plenty of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Not only does eating healthier make you feel energized, but it also reduces the risk of heart diseases and some cancers.

4. Journal.

I've been journaling for a while now, and I can honestly say this is tip is a great, if not the best, way of to relieve stress. It's also a great way to keep up with your ideas and help expand your creativity. Your journal is a judgement-free zone where you can write whatever you want.

5. Get rid of the negativity in your life.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. You don't need a toxic person in your life. So please, do yourself a favor and let them go.

6. Study your Bible.

It's important to study your Bible because it builds your relationship with God. The Bible contains answers that can help guide you through your experience here on Earth. Also, not only is it necessary to just study the Bible, but also to apply it what you've read, because faith without works is dead.

7. Exercise.

Getting up and going to the gym can be tough, so you can try to find something active to do at home. A local gym in Hattiesburg that I use is Revolution Fitness. Try not to do the same fitness routine everyday — mix it up!

8. Practice random acts of kindness.

When you help others, it makes you feel better! You can read more about how random acts of kindness can benefit your health here.

9. Bask in the sun.

Natural sunlight is a great way to boost your body's vitamin D levels. Try to soak up 15-20 minutes of sunlight, daily.

10. Love Yourself

When finding your true self, you recognize and prioritize your needs. Gaining a true sense of yourself can help your mental state tremendously.

These tips can not only help you live longer but happier! Have a wonderful summer and try to start some new, healthy habits.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
