10 Tips For The Perfect Instagram Theme
Jess Conte

Everyone loves to go on Instagram and share pictures and videos of the fun things they did, their pets, or even their delicious food. Many people have gone so far as to create a “theme” for their Instagram to attract more likes and followers and make their account more appealing. We all see them and want the perfect theme, but how do we get it? Here, I’ll share my 10 best tips for creating the perfect Instagram theme!

1. Take all of your pictures in good lighting.

No one wants to see a grainy, low quality picture on your feed! It will make the picture and the overall look of your theme more appealing!

2. Stick to a certain filter for all your pictures.

Choose a filter that you like and use it for all of your pictures! It can be any filter with any color like blue, white, pink, etc! Mix it up and try different things when you first start off, that’s how you’ll know you’ve found what you like!

3. Crop your pictures the same.

That way all of your pictures look similar when you go to post them! You won’t want different sizes as it will mess up your feed!

4. Take different types of pictures.

Don’t just take pictures of people/you and your friends, take pictures of things like food, adventurous places, or even dogs! You’ll want variety in your feed!

5. Find your Instagram inspiration!

Find a celebrity, youtuber, or just someone whose theme you like and use theirs as inspiration for your own!

6. Post frequently!

The more you post, the faster your feed will establish!

7. Try different angles for pictures.

This will mix up your feed so all your pictures do not look exactly the same! Although you’ll want it to look like it has a theme, you don’t want everything to look the same!

8. Use VSCO!

This app has awesome pre-filters you can use when editing your pictures! Plus, it’s free!

9. Take lots of different pictures of the same picture.

The first picture you take won’t always be the best, so mix it up and try different things like using flash/not using flash, choose different places to take the picture, etc. It will give you more options to choose the best picture for your Insta later!

10. Have fun!

Once you get the hang of having a theme it will get more fun and enjoyable! You also get to choose what your theme is like, so try new things and see what works!

Having an Instagram theme can be fun! Take some time to practice taking pictures and getting the hang of the editing process and you will have the perfect theme in no time at all!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
