Healthy and clear skin can be tough. I've been there, and I am sure you've been there too. Despite the natural course our skin takes as we age, there are definitely some tips and tricks you can incorporate into your daily life to ensure healthy looking skin! Take a look.

1. Taking off your makeup every night

(I know I know so cliche, but I promise you taking the extra step to take your makeup off makes the biggest difference. Do you really want all of your makeup, grime, grease and dirt to sink into your pores while you're sleeping!?

2. Skincare

Make sure you are using something suited to your skin type (oily, dry, combination) Also, do not be afraid to spend a little extra money on skincare, it is an investment that will be well worth it.

3. Using a toner after washing your face

Helps to make sure you removed all of the makeup and dirt off after you washed it. You'd be surprised at how much makeup is left on your face!

4. Drinks lots and lots of water

I cannot stress how important water is, not only for skincare but for your entire body and will make a huge difference in the clarity of your skin.

5. Using a soothing/calming face mask one to two times a week

A few times a week I make sure to apply a soothing face mask which definitely helps to keep it clear and smooth!

6. Exfoliating

If you have sensitive skin like myself, make sure you don't exfoliate more than once or twice a week because it will irritate your skin!

7. Changing your pillowcase

Every few weeks changing your pillowcase that you sleep with is a great trick to ensure clear skin!

8. Cleaning up your diet

The food you feed your body affects you in more ways than one. Chances are if your diet consists of lots and lots of junk food and non nutritious food, your skin reflects that. Cleaning up your diet will make a massive difference and clear up those breakouts.

9. SPF

This is me telling myself to take my own advice. I have to say, with this one I don't practice what I preach but that will change! SPF is essential especially if you are spending your days in the brutal sun. Whether it be a sunscreen, or foundation, having some SPF in there does wonders for the skin.

10. Cleaning your face immediately after working out

A staple in my gym bag are my facial wipes. Immediately after finishing my workout I do a quick cleanse in case I can't make it home to shower after working out. That way, the sweat isn't clogging up your pores.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
