Most people may know getting over an intimate breakup is an long process. Although some people may find it easy to cope, there are others who, on the contrary, find it very difficult to move forward.

Here are some tips helpful tips to get you through this time of crisis.

1. Treat Yourself on Holidays

On some holidays where companionship is seen the most it seems like every couple that exists blatantly appears everywhere you turn to taunt the single population. Although they might not actually be out to get to you, there is a way to get through these trying times.

For example, for Valentine's Day, buy yourself a box of chocolates. On the "to" and "from" label, write your name twice because you would be flattered that someone like yourself thought about you. If you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, buy yourself some clothes that flatter you, and wrap them up as a gift to give to yourself.

2. Take Yourself Out to Dinner

Think about this. Being in a relationship can add stress to your wallet and become a financial sacrifice. Now that you are single, you can go to a nice restaurant by yourself because now you can afford to get dessert, too. Moreover, if you want a more liberating experience, then buy yourself two plates of sushi and not just one.

3. Do the Things Your Ex Never Wanted to Do

Not only does doing this give you the feeling of freedom and independence, but it also feels pretty cool.

If your ex never wanted to go to that music festival you always raged about, now is your time. Go straight to the nearest mall and purchase a flower crown and some round glasses to get that free-spirited Coachella feel. These kinds of things are fun because you don't have to worry about another person and their opinions.

4. Go to the Movies by Yourself

Although this sounds mildly depressing, you may be surprised that taking your teddy bear (not the one your ex gave you), pillow, and snuggie can be quit to you liking. Don't be too open-minded about what movie to watch because watching themes like chick flicks or romantic comedies can lead you to couples that were mentioned earlier and you don't want to do that to yourself. If you do opt to sticking around a sad chick flick, don't forget to take your tissue box.

5. Listen to Some of the Best Breakup Songs

We all know Taylor Swift's breakup songs are prevalent in our time. Listening to these cheesy upbeat songs can be surprisingly therapeutic. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" probably does the job, but if you're going for a more serious tone then "Teardrops on My Guitar" is definitely a tearjerker.

Another notorious breakup song is "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus. Even though many heartbroken people can relate to this song, I don't recommend swinging from an iron ball and chain, or sticking your tongue out for too long, because that could be potentially dangerous.

6. Have a Night Out With Friends

Many relationships, usually long-lasting ones, sometimes consist of activities like staying in and watching movies. This does sound very appealing because it is good to relax, but now that you are single it's time to add some entertainment in your life.

A night out with close friends can do a lot. It can distract you from thinking about your ex or being sad about your ex. It can also create a lot of memories, but maybe some of those memories may not be ones to share with your kids. Regardless, a good night out with friends that care about you usually end up being the funnest.

7. Give Back / Give Away / Sell the Things Your Ex Gave You

You can say it's the thought that counts when it comes to receiving gifts and whatnot, but there comes a time when seeing the items that your ex gave you can feel like an unpleasant reminder of the past.

My take on this is that you should either give back, give away, or sell these things. If you decide to sell these items then you can purchase a gallon of ice cream with that money, and who doesn't want ice cream.

8. Make a Minor Change in Your Appearance for a Fresh Start

It has been said that when people go through difficult changes in their lives, they usually dramatically change something about their appearance. I think that is very true because I know many of my girl friends will chop off their hair or dye it after going through hardships.

You don't want to make a change that you'll regret, but maybe making a minor change in your appearance for a fresh start can make you feel like a new person.

9. Work on Improving Yourself

To make a relationship victorious, there is a lot of time and energy that is put into it. Now that you are single you have all the time in the world to do things you couldn't before. Whether it involves making changes at work or in your lifestyle, either one is beneficial to your well-being. Also, this can boost that confidence you may have lost from the breakup and you will feel like you can conquer the world and that it is possible to do so by yourself.

Make yourself proud for yourself.

10. Remember, Everything Is Going to Be OK

To some, breaking up with someone may feel like the end of the world, especially if that person played an important role in their lives.

Just remember, you were once whole before you started dating, and you will feel whole again. Also, don't forget things get better, and everything happens for a reason!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
