10 Times Dwight Schrute Was The Most Relatable

During finals week, anything goes.

I have been watching way too much of The Office lately. Like, hours and hours. It's a comforting show, especially when you are feeling insanely stressed. And there is one thing I've noticed: Dwight Schrute is insanely relatable. At least, to my coffee-jacked, frazzle-brained self. So, in the spirit of finals, here are 10 times Dwight's quotes have made me think,"Me too, man."

1. “How would I describe myself? Three words: hard working, alpha male, jackhammer, merciless, insatiable.”

As someone who recently had a job interview, I think I speak for everyone when I say I wish I could say this about myself.

2. “The principle is sound. To avoid illness, expose yourself to germs, enabling your immune system to develop antibodies. I don’t know why everyone doesn’t do this… Maybe they have something against living forever.”

If you have ever lived in a college dorm, you know that this may not be true. But it's a comforting thought when your entire floor has the flu and you hope you aren't next.

3. “I am ready to face any challenge that might be foolish enough to face me.”

This is a mantra for finals week, or really any time you just need to get hyped for a difficult day.

4. “Why are all these people here? There are too many people on this earth. We need a new plague.”

The only thought you have when the line for coffee at the library goes out the door.

5. “There are 3 things you never turn your back on; bears, men you have wronged, and a dominant male turkey during mating season.”

As someone whose college campus is rife with male turkeys, this is actually strangely relevant.

6.“Before I do anything I ask myself, ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.”

On making decisions.

7. "Fortunately my feelings regenerate at twice the speed of a normal man's."

For when your TA leaves a less than stellar comment on your essay, or you scroll too far back on your crush's Instagram feed.

8. "Always the padawan, never the Jedi."

For when you know you're always learning.

9. "You couldn't handle my undivided attention."

The real reason you stay on your phone during lecture is to save your professor from the danger of your complete attention.

10. “D.W.I.G.H.T – Determined, Worker, Intense, Good worker, Hard worker, Terrific.”

For when you need motivation, and come up with a good acronym for your own name.

Now, go forth and conquer!

The 14 Stages Of The Last Week Of Class

You need sleep, but also have 13 things due in the span of 4 days.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!
