10 Times Animals Were Sleepy College Students

Animals in zoos are just like college students: they like to nap.

Whether you're an adorable animal at a zoo or a hardworking college student, you need your sleep. Somehow you never quite seem to get enough, but every minute of sleep is usually appreciated and you usually don't appreciate the moment when your alarm goes off or when someone wakes you up. Being a huge animal lover, I love taking trips to zoos to look at the animals and see what they're up to. Somehow though, a lot of animals always seem to be sleeping when I get to their exhibit. So, the other day it occurred to me that animals in zoos very accurately represent college students when it comes to sleeping (and the various ways to wake up).

1. When you are totally comfortable and enjoying life.

You may not actually be asleep yet, but you're relaxed and have nothing on your mind.

2. When you spring out of bed and are super alert.

Granted, this doesn't happen all that often but every now and then, you either a) are really excited for what the day holds or b) have something you can't miss so you make sure you're up.

3. When you need a little more time to wake up.

Sometimes your alarm goes off but you don't really want to get out of bed just yet. So, you take some extra time to sit up, yawn, and stretch before getting up to start your day.

4. It's midday and you just need a nap.

Maybe you just took an exam. Maybe you were in the gym. Maybe you just sat through some fairly boring classes. Whatever the reason, it's the middle of the afternoon and you need a nap.

5. When your roommate is sound asleep and you're wide awake.Don't you just wish you could be them?

6. You really need a nap but there's stuff on your bed so you'll settle for whatever surface is available. You're so tired that the surface you're sleeping on doesn't even matter. Well, it probably will when you wake up but you can worry about that later.

7. Who dares disturb my slumber? There may be a time when you sleep through your alarm and one of your friends will come in to make sure you get up. You definitely be thanking them for it later -you'd do the same for them - but you probably aren't too happy now.

8. Contemplating whether or not it's really time to get up.Your head knows it's time to get up and get the day started but you want to stay in bed for just a little longer. So your mournfully look at the floor while gathering the energy to stand up and get the day going.

9. When you have an 8 a.m. class and didn't sleep well the night before. You're struggling to keep your eyes open and you really hope you aren't needed to answer a question.

10. I'm done.Everyone, student or not, has those moments where you're physically and mentally exhausted and you need to rest.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
