Growing up in the 90s, I was constantly singing and dancing to my favorite music. Some of my favorite songs as a kid are still songs I jam to today. Whenever I hear these, they immediately take me back. They’re the kind of songs that never get old…no matter how many times you listen to them on repeat. In no particular order, here are my top ten picks that bring me back to my childhood.

1. "Back Here" - BB Mak

These guys were not as popular as some of the other groups I enjoyed listening to, but boy were they cute - and British. This might be one of their most popular songs, but it's just a great, heartfelt song to listen to.

2. "Bye Bye Bye" - N'Sync

I couldn't write this list without including a song from probably my favorite boy band of all time. N'Sync was the first band I ever saw live and to this day, their music is still some of my favorite. Of course this song is on the list...it's one of their classics.

3. "Genie in a Bottle" - Christina Aguilera

Christina was one of my favorites growing up and I used to love to put this song on as loud as I possibly could and dance around my room until I got tired of it.

4. "Give Me Just One Night" - 98 Degrees

These guys weren't as well known, but they had a handful of great songs that I used to love jamming to...and Nick Lachey was pretty dreamy.

5. "Hit Me Baby One More Time" - Britney Spears

Of course if you grew up in the 90s, this song was just about every girl's favorite song...at least, it was mine. How could you not love Britney? This song is still a hit even today and Britney is still killing the game.

6. "I Want It That Way" - The Backstreet Boys

Right after N'Sync, The Backstreet Boys were my next favorite boy band. I've even recently seen them in concert on their comeback reunion tour and they can still put on a show. This song is a classic and always will be.

7. "Livin' La Vida Loca" - Ricky Martin

Ricky was also one of the very first concerts I saw and this song just makes you want to get up and dance. Every time this song played when I was younger, I would immediately break out into a routine that I had mastered for this song.

8. "Step by Step" - New Kids on The Block

This one is a bit older, but is such a classic throwback song. The New Kids have even made a comeback; they definitely still got the right stuff.

9. "Waiting for Tonight" - Jennifer Lopez

Of course, Jennifer Lopez is still killing the game, but before she was as famous she is now, she was just Jenny from the Block.

10. "Wannabe" - The Spice Girls

The Spice Girls were really the only girl group back then, but man, did I love to dance to their songs. I had always dreamed that one day I would get to be in a girl group and be as cool as they were.

Listening to old songs is like looking at an old photograph; it brings me back to that time and I love reminiscing about the past. Things seemed much simpler back then, and the music was a lot more fun. There's nothing like a good throwback to put me in a better mood. These songs will never get old.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
