Throwback songs are everyone's favorite. Any time you hear them, an instant smile appears on your face. You remember how you used to blare that song in your car while preparing for your driver's test or you were singing into your hairbrush as you were getting ready for that iconic middle school dance. It's those songs that you know every word to and can belt out at the drop of a hatch. Those throwback songs have memories in them. Why not continue making memories by adding those throwback songs to your spring break playlist? 'Middle school you' would thank you.
Here are my top 10 must have throwback songs:
1. "Good Girls Go Bad" - Cobra Starship
I'm pretty sure I had this song on my Myspace profile song. I was a rookie at the time and didn't even know that Leighton Meester was featured on this song. Who would've thought that Blair Waldorf would one day make it as a singer? I was thinking more so of someone to be reckoned with. Either way, this song will make you want to finger point and fist pump for days.
2. "The Great Escape"- Boys like Girls
I remember this song being played at my middle school dances as if it happened yesterday. The gym was pipping hot of sweaty adolescents and everyone screamed the chorus at the top of their lungs. Those were the days. I still am a firm believer that this band is underrated. I am also petitioning that they make a comeback album. You be the judge of how awesome they are.
3. "Here In Your Arms" - Hellogoodbye
I think we forget how intense and exciting this song is. Hellogoodbye may be a one hit wonder, but this song is absolutely iconic. Once stumbling upon it, all you want to do is put it on repeat. Its retro vibes leave you wanting more.
4. "A Thousand Miles"- Vanessa Carlton
I may be partial to this song, but it always manages to capture my heart. It is a slow song, but it is powerful and very much a bonding song. I have friends that will play the piano to this song and we will sing our hearts out along with it.
5. "Ignition"(Remix) - R Kelly
This song is so timeless. It seems like it always makes an appearance on playlists. Why should that exclude your spring break playlist? Everyone knows the words to it and is eagerly waiting to sing the lyrics. Add that party song and give me that beep beep.
6. "Dirty Little Secret"- All American Rejects
Adding this song to your playlist will not be just another regret. If anything, it will boost your spirits and rejuvenate your mind to keep singing along and you can even move along.
7. "Check Yes Juliet"- We the Kings
This song will keep you pushing forward with that 'anything is possible' mentality. It will bring you excitement and amp you up about anything that is about to come your way. This song just exudes the idea that you can overcome it all.
8. "Just The Girl"- The Click 5
Are you just the girl he's looking for? This song manages to work its way into our hearts. Probably because of how catchy and relatable the song was in our lives. Speaking for the ladies, of course. All you can do is swoon when hearing this song.
9. "I Don't Wanna Dance"- Hey Monday
So maybe my heart is broken that Hey Monday broke up and Cassedee Pope went solo. However, they really kicked butt at making singles. I don't wanna dance and homecoming were classics that I still listen to on a daily basis. They will definitely get you dancing even if you don't wanna dance.
10. "Misery Business" - Paramore
Something about this song screams empowerment and raising your voice. Okay, maybe it was a song about two girls fighting over a guy, but it was extremely catchy and boisterous. Almost anyone could jam out to this song which means instant success in my book.
So, there you have it. These songs will take you down memory lane, but will also make you appreciate the meaning of today. My advice to you is to play them, appreciate the past, but make memories now for the future.
