Some girls may know about cars, but I know little to nothing about cars. Luckily, I have my dad to answer all my questions. I just bought my first car and I had a lot of thoughts in my mind while going through the process.
1. Look at all these pretty cars.
The moment when you first get start looking at the vehicles on a car lot you become amazed with all the options.
That is until you see the prices.
2. The way my bank account is set up…
I’m a college student from a barely middle class family, take me to the used car section.
3. Why are you showing me this car that you think I would like but you know it’s not in my price range?
Don’t show me a $14,000 car with 97,000 miles on it. If I tell you my price range is $10,000-$14,000 don’t show me a $22,000 car because you think it’s the best car on the lot. My bank account doesn’t care.
4. Dad, what does that mean?
I know nothing about cars. If my dad is not there, I would have no clue what the salesperson is saying.
5. Dad, what does that do?
If the car is not like my mom’s car, I will need some explaining for a few of the features.
6. Dad, is that a good thing?
When the salesperson is telling you all the specifics of a car and you’re just waiting for him to get out of ear shot to ask this question.
7. I’m ready to go.
Car shopping can get boring. After an hour you are ready to go, but you can’t leave because you need a car.
8. I think I found the car for me. At least I hope I did.
You can never be too sure of what car is perfect especially if you do not know that much about cars.
When the salesperson asks are you ready to sign the paperwork.
9. No, not really. I like money in the bank.
I hate to spend money, but I needed a car. Bye bye money.
But you really say yes and sign your life away for the next four to five years.
10. Yay, I’m adulting. Oh snap, I’m adulting!
Adulting is not fun. However, we all have to adult someday. I’ll start with buying my first car.
If you are in the process of buying a car, good luck adulting.
