If you're a music student, you know exactly what it feels like to have Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance" stuck in your head for hours on end the day of graduation. You played it in high school, you play it in college, you know that you'll have to hear that song being played when you finally get to walk into your own graduation ceremony. But you also know these ten thoughts from every graduation you've ever played, ever.
1. Why are these chairs so uncomfortable?
2. I literally have no room to move because I might hit the person sitting next to me...or worse, I could hit their instrument.
3. I wonder how long the ceremony is going to last because I need a nap.
4. The commencement speaker last year was way funnier than this guy.
5. Why is my conductor looking at me like that? Did I do something weird?
6. I just got really hungry. Next year I should sneak a snack in with me...wait...that might be inappropriate.
7. I wonder how much of a disturbance I would cause if I got up to use the restroom?
8. I think the ceremony is almost over...no I was wrong.
9. Finally! Here's the processional, I'm so ready to get out of here...right after my arm falls off because it takes forever for everyone to leave.
10. I'm so glad I don't have to do that again any time soon...but oh no I have to do it again next semester.
