I don't know about you, but I love watching the Olympics. There is just something so inspiring about watching all of the athletes from around the world competing for a spot on the podium. While the Olympics showcase some of the world's greatest athletes, they also demonstrate the importance of unity and teamwork. With the Rio 2016 Olympics coming to a close, I thought it would be appropriate to share the 10 thoughts I had while watching.

1. "Maybe I could be an Olympian."

Admit it, watching the athletes compete for gold is quite motivating. It even makes you want to go to the gym for a change. But then, you come to your senses and realize that these people have been training pretty much their entire lives for this.

2. "What are those weird bruises on Michael Phelps' shoulders?"

So, if you've been keeping up with swimming, or any of the other sports, you may have noticed some dark bruises on the skin of some of the athletes. Well apparently it's called "cupping," a type of therapy that serves as a form of alternative medicine. It works by applying heated cups to the skin, which use a suctioning pressure that increases blood circulation. Not sure if this actually works, but you do you Michael Phelps.

3. "Aly Raisman's parents are adorable."

If overtly stressing out during your daughter's gymnastics performance was an Olympic sport, Aly Raisman's parents would win the gold medal. But no seriously, this just shows how emotionally invested and proud they are of their daughter. And they really should be.

4. "They were so close in time!"

Technology has made it a hundred times easier to analyze which athlete actually made it to the finish line first. This is a relief, considering some races seem too close to call a lot of time.

5. "Simone Biles has some insanely large muscles."

At 19 years old and just 4 foot 8 inches, Simone has been named one of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts of all time and a powerful force to be reckoned with. I mean, she even has her own move named after her. Also known as "The Biles," as illustrated above.

6. "Who knew the Olympics were so meme worthy."

Let's face it. The Olympics have been subject to some pretty top-notch memes. From the Phelps Face to Usain Bolt's grin as he glances back at his opponents, they have all been Internet gold.

7. "I would not want to swim in that pool."

You may have heard that the Olympic diving pool turned green. At first no one knew why, but later it was assumed that the color was due to some kind of algae problem that changed the alkalinity of the water. I guess it's still safe, considering none of the athletes have mutated or anything.

8. "What did Ryan Lochte do to his hair?"

Swimmer Ryan Lochte traded in his luscious brown locks for some blonde hair. He then later changed the color to silver, which has slowly been turning green due to the chemicals in the pool. Oh well, he is still a beautiful man regardless.

9. "Wait, how old are they?"

The age of a lot of the athletes is just astonishing. It makes you realize that they have accomplished more at the age of 19 than you will in your lifetime. Whether old or young though, there is even a 41-year old gymnast from Uzbekistan competing in her seventh Olympics. That is just pure dedication my friend.

10. "All of these athletes are so amazing."

In the end, you are just proud and have the utmost respect for the athletes that are representing the United States. All 555 of them.
