10 Thoughts Every Senior Has During Welcome Week
Fast Coexist

After a successful first weekend back at college, my mind has been running wild with nostalgia, confusion, and sometimes even disgust (yes, and you'll understand why). With this being my senior year, I'm trying to soak in every moment of my last year of college. Seriously though, who let me become a senior? Anyways, my last welcome week has had so many thoughts go through my head that I'm sure many of my fellow seniors have had. In college we tend to go through the motions, but for some reason, you become hyperaware of everything when you're in your last year.

Here are some thoughts that every senior probably has had during welcome week.

1. YAS it's my last welcome week, turn up!!!!!

You're all excited to go out and see all your friends and you're ready to turn up with all your friends that you haven't seen since last semester!

2. Holy sh*t it's my last welcome week...

Then reality sinks in that this time next year you will probably be working full-time job that you absolutely hate. Whoever said that being an adult is cool LIED.

3. I'm legit probably the oldest person at this frat party right now...that's awkward.

That first weekend you realize that you're surrounded by a bunch freshman who probably aren't even 18 yet..and low-key you realize you probably can do without going to frats every weekend.

4. I wonder if that girl who's dancing on the bar knows how trashy she looks...

We see one at every party who has no shame in flashing her thong to a room full of frat boys....it never fails.

5. I'm really over frat parties, I don't think I'm going to another one for a while.

Lol jk, cause bars cost actually money and you can turn up for free in a frat house. I mean seriously, who has time to pay for drinks.

6. Classes start on Monday and I'm so unprepared for life.

After a weekend of back to back partying, you realize that you actually have school to think about. And you have to pass every class or else you won't graduate LOL.

7. I really shouldn't have taken that last shot...

After a weekend full of binging, you realize what a bad idea it was...and you're probably going to turn around and do the same thing next weekend.

8. Show my ID? At a frat house? Excuse me, are you even old enough to vote though...?

Sometimes you just have to stand your ground and demand respect. Side note: Lol at all the people who actually have to run from the cops when a party gets busted *perks of being legal*.

9. Oh, he's really cute.

Until you find out that he's a freshman..see ya!

10. I'm really going to miss this place.

Because no matter what you may through, you know that there's nowhere else you'd rather be.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
