The time of year we all dread has officially began its course. School is back in session. There are so many things that cross one’s mind when going into the classroom with other students and teachers that you don’t really know. Here is a list of thoughts that will probably cross your mind getting back into the hang of things.

1. Why did I take an 8am?

The one thing that is sure to haunt any college student. No one even wants to talk to another human being at this time in the morning, let alone attend a lecture.

2. When do I have a break? I’m starving.

Food. We all need food. It is inevitable to not be sitting in class half-starved at some point. On top of that you probably forgot essential things like to pack food or money to buy yourself something so you’re basically totally screwed.

3. Why are there so many people in this class!?

If you’re anything like me you’re immediately annoyed will a classroom is over packed. For example, I got the honor of sitting on the floor in one of my classes. Then I’m like someone please just save us all some time and drop the class already because someone is bound to do it along the way.

4. Is this the last time I will hear the same spiel from every syllabus?

After the second time of hearing all the same information required from the college to be included in the syllabuses I want to fall asleep. Plus, I already know; stop telling us we get it!

5. I better know someone in this class.

I literally hate the idea of not knowing anyone in my class. It is always a relief to see a familiar face in the crowd, or if you’re lucky have a buddy to sit by.

6. Are you really starting a lecture today?

Nobody. I mean not anyone wants to start learning on the first day. Like come on, let us get settled. Please. And homework on the first day! Don’t even get me started.

7. Why do I need this class again?

We always feel like the classes are completely irrelevant to our major or life in general. Stop making me take classes that suck and make no sense for my future.

8. This class seems hard. Great.

Seriously, I sit through all my first lectures wondering if I’ll even survive the whole semester because I have NO idea what we just talked about. Prayers needed.

9. Yay. That person is extremely annoying.

It is bound to happen. You will have that one person that drives you absolutely crazy in one of your classes. I just sit there and hope they shut up for the sake of everyone; because everyone is seriously looking around thinking the same thing.

10. It’s only 16 weeks; you can do it.

On a positive note only 16 more weeks until the semester is over! Let the countdown begin for winter break my friends!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
