A common hobby among college girls, sorority affiliation or not, is to craft. There is something so satisfying about making something with your own two hands and then being able to display it or give it as a gift. Before college I had little to no artistic talent and while I am no Picasso I have improved on my skills. And while I tend to be overambitious when it comes to my "crafting" I think everyone who attempts to DIY something has a few of the same thoughts.
1. I am feeling creative today....let's make something!
An innocent thought really. Making things not only keeps you busy and keeps away boredom but the end result is something that you can actually use, display or give as a gift!
2. But what to do....let's check Pinterest!
Again another innocent thought, Pinterest does have TONS of great ideas!
3. (After 45 minutes of looking through Pinterest) This looks easy!
I mean you had to see this coming, when is going on Pinterest ever a quick thing? Really you're lucky you weren't on there for HOURS.
4. Time to gather my supplies. (Still in a chipper optimistic mood).
At this point in the project nothing has gone wrong. You're still feeling creative, already thinking of ways to alter the thing you found online to make it your own.
5. Crap I have to go to the store. (But hey also doubles as a coffee run!)
The craft store is fun and you can never have to much coffee! Although this trip may wind up taking much longer than expected, lets face it Hobby Lobby/Michaels/Jo-Anns/etc. suck you in with all their fresh brushes, pretty paper and glitter!
6. (After spending WAY more than planned at the craft store)...lets do this.
It happens every, single, time.
7. Okay base coat done...
Wooohooo the painting has commenced! It is now very late in the day but we're getting it done!
8. Time for a snack, you know while the paint dries.
Can't craft hungry. It will not end well. Besides food fuels the brain and you've got to be thinking clearly while attempting to make something beautiful.
9. Alright lets get to it.
You're fed and caffeinated, the canvas is prepped, all of the supplies have been gotten and set out. No more excuses, its time to work.
10. (After about 10 minutes of attempting the much harder than it looked canvas). You know I think I'll just work on it more tomorrow...
Well things aren't going as planned. You know remember why you hate ombre...it never comes out quite right. And the more you look at that design the more impossible it seems. Its super late now and you're tired and frustrated. It is just time to call it a night and get a fresh start in the morning.
