If you're from the South, you understand football is a big deal. Others from the West Coast may not think much about tailgate season, but they'll soon understand it's the best time of the year. For those who haven't experienced game day at Alabama, let me share a few thoughts we all have before, during and after the first game of the season.

It's so hot.

Yes, we get it. Humidity in Alabama is no joke. Pack your blotting sheets and lots of water. Thankfully, Bryant-Denny now has water stations at select zones in the stadium. You can fill up your water bottle without having to spend a huge fortune.

You look so good!

Save your T-shirts and Nike shorts for class. Everyone will be dressed up for game day, so make sure you wake up extra early and prepare for those cute pics you'll post on Insta later. Some local boutiques will have sales for gameday clothing.

Pregame. Pregame. Pregame.

Tailgating is essential to the gameday experience. Whether you're meeting up with sorority sisters, fraternity brothers, friends, or family, make sure you're in a safe environment if you decide to drink. Don't enter the stadium drunk, either. Take everything in moderation.

There's so many people.

Get to the gates early! Most freshmen already have to sit in upper bowl. You don't want to be on the last row in the stands. The nosebleed section really will make your nosebleed.

Want to take a selfie?

Everyone may get annoyed at your Snapchat, but those memories will last forever. Don't be afraid to take pictures with your besties. You'll want to save these pictures and show them to your children one day.

What should we eat?

Make sure you eat a good lunch before entering the stadium. Nachos and hotdogs can equal up to over $20. Nevertheless, you won't want to stand in line either. Every play is important in a Bama football game.

What was that?

Some football calls don't make sense. If you don't understand the game, just cheer with the crowd.

My feet hurt.

Again, dress up but be comfortable. You don't have to go all out. Wedges are a great choice to spice up an outfit but don't feel like its necessary to wear four-inch heels.

Yea, Alabama! Drown 'em Tide.

After every touchdown, the Million Dollar Band will play the fight song. This is an Alabama tradition gone on for decades. You must know this song in order to fit in with the student section. No exceptions.

Roll Tide Roll.

Will it be Tua or Jalen that gets us to the championship? No matter which one, the Crimson Tide will keep on rolling. We're on the road to 18.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
