It's that time of the year when summer is dwindling to a close and everyone is starting to get ready to head back to school. After 4 months of having absolutely no school work, exams and projects, the thought of school can be daunting. However, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I am so ready to head back and see all my friends and get back on to campus. As you begin to pack up your life into boxes yet again, here are 11 thoughts that are bound to cross your mind:
1. Where did summer go?
As you look back on your summer, it can be hard to believe just how fast it went. What did I even do with myself?!
2. What do I really need to bring?
This question crosses my mind as soon as I bring myself to start packing. Although I have packed for college 2 years in a row now, I still find myself over packing and bringing things that I never even use. I always try to "downsize" but I am never successful.
3. I can't wait to see my friends.
You have been away from your college friends for approximately 4 months too long, and you are bouncing off the walls over the fact that you finally get to reunite with them.
4. I really hope I don't see _______.
With every person that you can't wait to see back at school, there is always that person that you really don'twant to see.
5. I am going to work so hard this year!
Says every student ever. At the beginning of the year, everyone tends to try their hardest. The work load isn't too bad yet, and you are extremely motivated to try your best. However, as soon as the work starts piling on and the professors start assigning projects and exams, you begin to question your sanity. Don't worry, at least we can suffer together.
6. I will definitely make it to my 8 AM.
After a couple months of sleeping in, that first early class can really make you want to crawl into a hole. It takes a while to get back into a routine at school, but don't make a habit of sleeping through your alarm so early in the year. Just set aside time for a nice afternoon nap instead!
7. I should get more involved this year.
The beginning of the year is the time when the activity fair is in full force. Every school will most likely have a day when all the representatives from each club or society will try to bribe you into signing your name on their sign-up sheet. Getting involved is a super good way to meet people on campus, but don't sign up for things that you aren't interested in.
8. Maybe I will actually get enough sleep this year.
Get into the routine of going to bed at a reasonable hour. Save the all-nighters for finals week! I know it can be hard to get enough sleep once the work load picks up and you begin spending ungodly amounts of time in the library, but at least try to make a conscious effort.
9. I'll only go out 2 times a week.
Being back on a college campus just brings out the urge to go out all. The. Time. I typically try to reserve those nights for the weekend, but it can definitely be tempting to go out on a weekday especially if all your friends are.
10. I can't wait to be back.
You love your home friends, your hometown and your parents, but at the end of the day, you really miss school. You are about to get your freedom and independence back, and that's definitely something to celebrate.
