From winter to spring, college students begin the search for the elusive summer internship. Many programs require their students to have some sort of internship before you can graduate. This can leave many students with the burden and privilege of scouring the depths of the internet and beyond to find someone to intern for. Below are likely the thoughts of anyone who is tasked with this mission.
1. OMG this is going to be amazing. I am going to be so independent and find a paid internship. This'll be easy.
2. Oh. Wow. Okay, my résumé kind of looks REALLY WEAK.
3. Why didn't I join that one club, that one time? That would have looked amazing on my résumé. Why, just why?
4. So, I need experience but I can't get experience because I haven't had any experience?
5. How many more ways can these people tell me "NO"?
6. Maybe they will get back to me. Maybe they are just taking their time to look over my résumé. MAYBE they are just SO impressed by my résumé they can't make themselves call me or email me.
7. No one wants me. I am NEVER going to get this internship.
8. SCREW THIS. I'll just quit school and go live back home.
9. OMG I am going to have to take a break and go live back home because no one wants me.
* sobs loudly, alone, while shoveling cookies into mouth.
* glances randomly at email...
10. HECK YEAH! Finally convinced someone that I am worthy! I knew this would all work out. SO glad I didn't let this process break my spirit.
* Realizes that you now have to find housing for that internship you just had to have.
