10 Thoughts Every College Student Has After Spring Break

"What time is my first class again?"

It was nice when it lasted. That one week where all your responsibilities seemed to fade drastically into the back burner. Your Econ homework was replaced by spending your life savings at the mall, your Chemistry homework was replaced by Big Bang Theory marathon, and your IAH reading was replaced by some rather light reading of Cosmopolitan magazine. But like all breaks, they fly by without slowing down and next thing you know you're back in your IAH class with the realization that the "10 Thing All Men Do In Their Sleep" article you read in Cosmo isn't going to help you with your soon due essay about whatever, you don't know you didn't read!

On that note, here are 10 more thoughts that every college student will have after spring break is over:

1. "God I missed all my friends."

There is nothing better than being reunited with your friends after a break. One of the best parts is that you get to catch up on all the drama that happened over break! You get to listen to their wild spring break stories and better yet, tell them some of your own. Either way, there will be at least 2 hours dedicated to catching up and laughing your booty off.

2. "Wow, I missed my apartment."

You loved being home... for about 3 days. Don't get me wrong, I love my bed at home more than anything. However, there is something about being in your own dorm/apartment/house, that just makes you feel independent. Each time you go home its kind of like that little bit of freedom gets taken away for hot second. Which is most college kids minds is not cool.

3. "....Oh Yeah.. D2L is a thing."

With all the beach partying or netflixing you did over break, odds are you did not get around to checking D2L. But who would blame you? D2L could cause some serious damage on your mood. Plus, it's a week dedicated to anything but school. However, when Sunday night rolls around, you're probably going to kick yourself for not checking at least once over break. Who knew you had quiz first thing Monday morning after break?

4. "What time is my first class again?"

Being off routine for a week can really through you off. You're so use to your everyday routine of waking up, getting to class on time, going to the gym, going to the library and so on, that when you break that routine, it tends to throw you off a bit. Now you have push yourself back into that old routine and to be honest, it's harder than you thought it would be.

5. "Last week at this time I was sleeping."

Even though all you did last week was sleep, all you want to do right now is sleep again. Why did the world create 8 o'clock classes? Seriously? Why not make the earliest class a 10:20? Much more reasonable plus you get that crucial last couple hours of sleep. A person can only wish (insert overly dramatic sigh).

6. "Hello Professor Boring Face"

One of the worst problems in college, is when you have a professor who's voice makes you want to chop your ears off. That whole monotone thing that they got going on always puts a serious damper on your mood and almost ruins your entire day. It was a marvelous seven days without hearing their voice. "How did I get back here so fast?"

7. "What is studying?"

Honestly, even though it's only been about seven days, it seems like everything you thought you knew flew out the window. How do I even pick up a book again? How did I use to spend 4+ hours in the library at one cubicle? How do I even get to the library? Man who knew seven days can really take it out of you.

8. "How can I already have another exam?"

How in the heck is this even a thing? When your professor walks in and reminds you that their will be an exam in under 5 days. Major. major wake up call. Why did she/he plan that? All you can ask is why and all you want to do is curl up in a ball and try and figure out when life became life again.

9. "How many more days until summer?"

How many more days until I don't have to worry about exams, papers or projects? How many days until you can sleep in at least two days in a row without setting an alarm? Summer. It seems like a lifetime away. And then an even worse thought occurs.... you have to get through finals first. NOOOO.

10. "At least this week there's St. Patrick's Day."

"You know what, I can make it through this week." St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner and you already know that it's going to be epic. All you have to do is make it through a couple of classes and you are golden and ready to celebrate one of Michigan State's favorite holidays!

Happy Almost St. Sparty's Day!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
