10 Thoughts Every College Student Has
Positive Soul

We are sleep deprived. We have bad eating habits. We're the kings and queens of procrastinating. We don't understand the concept of moderation. Oh, yeah. We're also the future professionals of the world. How promising. Being that we are all sharing some of the same habits, it's logical to assume that we have all shared the same thoughts at some point or another. So here are the top ten most common thoughts of college students.

1. "I don't need to go to bed yet. I'll be fine."

One is still early evening. Two is yawn central. Three is the best time for coffee. Four means you might as well stay up until class.

2. "I did NOT sleep enough. I'm exhausted."

I say this every day. No matter how much sleep I've gotten. I am guaranteed to say "I'm tired" at least 47 times in one day.

3. "Do I have the time to print this before class?"

How you feel when the line to the printer is massive and then the printer decides to not work five minutes before you have to hand in a paper.

4. "Due in two weeks? Do in two weeks."

You haven't properly been to college if you haven't decided the best time to write a ten page paper is the day before it's due.

5. "Which thing is more important? Dinner or homework or sleep?"

Personally, I'd go with homework, sleep then food. But others may feel differently.

6. "Is this professor for real?"

Telling me to read two chapters, write a reflection and print out seven different things over the course of one day is completely undoable. I have four other classes between now and then. It's completely unreasonable.

7. "I learned absolutely nothing today. Thank heavens I'm in debt for this." or "Well that was irrelevant to me. Totally worth thousands of dollars."

So here's the thing. We are learning things. But we aren't learning the thing we want to know. For example, I am never going to reference photosynthesis in my career in public relations. Or, another example, my counseling and human services major friend is not going to be referencing the Pythagorean Theorem to her clients. Please stop with this. Please.

8. "I really shouldn't eat this." *orders pizza*

Yes, there is a salad bar. Yes, there's always the option of grilled chicken and some veggies. But when Domino's will literally bring pizza straight to your dorm, why bother leaving the warmth of the residence halls.

9. "Is it break yet?"

It seems as though we come back and then we spend week after week wishing to go back home. When we finally get home, the reverse happens. Which brings me to my next and final thought...

10. "Can I go back yet?"

Break is great. No matter which one it is, it's always great to go home, see some old friends, make some money and catch up on sleep. But when it's all been said and done, there is nothing better than sitting in your dorm with your friends, complaining about classes and eating horrible food.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
