10 Things You've Definitely Said To Your Roommate

Ah, college. The time of random roommates. Sometimes the whole “living with a complete stranger the school picked out for you” thing doesn’t really work. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Sometimes your roommate is just the person that sleeps on the other side of the room. But there is the possibility that your roommate becomes one of your closest friends. When you live with your best friend, there are certain phrases that you hear quite often….

1. "What time are we...?"

When are we going to get food? When are we waking up? When are you showering? Since we're spending pretty much all of our time together, we may as well just coordinate our schedules.

2. "Can you bring me food?"

I don't have time to go back to the room, and I can't find my I.D. card. Feed me?

3. "We should skip class today."

I can't skip alone, because I would feel too lazy. But if we skip together, we could clean our room or something? Or we could just lay in bed ...

4. "Let's snuggle."

We all need a little love. You sleep 10 feet away from me (AKA easy snuggle access).

5. "I don't want to do this ... but I probably should."

I'm usually around you when I'm procrastinating or avoiding responsibilities. Thanks for keeping me motivated.

6. "Can you do my hair?"

You're going to have to straighten all the hair I missed in the back, so why not just do it all for me? Thanks. You're the best.

7. "I'm home. Where are you?"

You're usually home at this time. It's been 15 minutes and it's too quiet.

8. "Did you take my...?"

Half of my clothes are in your closet. But that's okay, because half of your clothes are in my closet. And you can keep my floss on your side of the bathroom.

9. "Tell me what to do."

Second to my mother, you know what's best for me. I know I can come to you with all my problems, whether it's 3 a.m. or you're in the shower.

10. "I love you. Thank you for being in my life."

You're the best.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
