Oh, what I would give to be on the sidelines cheering again...

Current cheerleaders in high school,

Never forget the moments and memories that you will have with your squad and coaches. You will cherish them forever and always will wish you could go back. Life goes by way too fast so hold on tight while you still can.

Here is the things you'll miss about it.

1. That extraordinary feeling when you approach the sidelines when you're about to kick off the game with the first cheer.

"Ready, hit it!" Is the first words you'll hear. The crowd is going wild over the game and you can't help but smile at the excitement.

2. You'll miss practicing with your squad every day.

Even though most days you dread practice, you will surely miss it. Practice is when everyone got better and stronger as a squad. It is where you all sweat, cried and learned together. It is where you become one.

3. The bus rides to games or competitions.

Those are always the best! You and your squad always jam it up! You'd sing or dance your heads off like no one is watching!

4. PEP RALLIES.

Pep rally's is when you get to show the student body the pride that you have for the school. Where you get to show your dance moves and stunts that you have been working so hard for. When it is over, you feel like you and your squad have dominated the school with your impressive, talented skills.

5. Spirit (Homecoming) Week was the best week of your life.

This is when you and your squad got to show MAJOR school spirit. Take lots and lots of pictures because these are your glory days.

6. Cheer competitions...

You'll most definitely miss this. You'll miss the knots in your stomach before your foot touches the cheer mat. You'll miss the feeling of hitting that stunt and that number perfectly with your squad. Especially when you do your last competition...

7. Wearing your cheer uniform.

Sometimes you hate wearing it because if it you wear it for so long, it gets really uncomfortable. But you love to wear it anyways. You. Are. A. Cheerleader.

8. Sleepovers with your squad.

You end up doing each other's hair and makeup. And of course, taking selfies. Do not forget, you all eat lots and lots of junk food while watching a scary movie. Those are the best nights when you don't have to worry about anything but what movie to watch next.

9. Cheer Camp for the kids.

As you see those little eyes shine and pop with excitement when they look at you, you hope you at least make a small tiny impact on their lives. It is truly the best feeling when little kids look up to you and want to be a cheerleader just like you are. Never take this moment for granted, keep it with you forever.

10. Your cheer family.

You'll miss it and you always will. Sure, sometimes spending so much time with them will make you annoyed but you love them anyways. You will miss the laughing, crying, fighting, and most of all, cheering with them. They will always be your family.

To the high school cheerleaders, take these years you have left and make them amazing. Make them unforgettable.

These are the few best years of your life, please, cheer your heart out.

Xoxo,

An alumni high school cheerleader

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
