Before you came to college, the idea of living with another person was terrifying! What if you don't get along? What if she's a morning person and you're a night owl? Chances are, after meeting them, you quickly learned that wasn't the case; becoming friends was inevitable. Now after a rough day, you find yourself looking forward to her walking through the door after her night class. So as soon as she gets in the door, grab her, and thank her for these ten things!

1. All the random late night food runs!

Because who else wants to go to Taco Bell with you at two in the morning? Or go get a chocolate milkshake when it’s four degrees?

2. For listening to you talk about your crush like it’s your job.

You know you’ve told her the story of how he looked at you and waved 12 times today already, but you’re just SO excited that you have to tell her a couple hundred more times. After all, you guys are going to get married.

3. For not murdering you when you don’t get up for the first seven alarms.

She knows just as well as you do: you’re not getting out of that bed for your 8 am until 7:55, but instead of getting mad, she tries to go back to sleep. But be warned, she’ll tease you about it later.

4. For all of the beautiful, hilarious, ugly, and insane pictures she takes of you.

You never knew that you looked like a T-Rex while you laughed, but thanks to her, you do now!

5. For being your “Mom away from Mom."

“Your paper is due tomorrow, and you have to do your laundry! You have to wear those black dress pants. No, you can’t wear sweatpants, IT’S A JOB INTERVIEW!” What would you do without her?

6. For being there for you all the time.

It’s finals week and you’ve already lost your mind twice, thought about changing your major, and haven’t slept in three days; she’s been by your side the whole time. Through all the crying, the frustration, the yelling, she’s been there for everything.

7. For all of her undying support.

She knew you were going to get into that summer program, and when you did, she celebrated like she was the one going. When you come to her with a bad test grade or doubting yourself, she’s pushing you and believing in you; even when you aren’t.

8. For sharing.

How could she ever say no?

9. For all of the great advice.

From which professor to take for College Writing, all the way to what you should say to that cute guy who sits in front of you, she generally knows what to say.

10. For being the best roommate, and best friend you could ever have.

How could you live with anyone else?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
