I'll tell you what you need, what you really really need.

In my last article I talked about what you should not take college and I think its only right to discuss the things you should bring to college that typically you wouldn’t think or tend to overlook when packing.

1. A Brita Filter

Sure, there are probably available sinks in your room or hall kitchen but do you really want to drink water you have no knowledge about especially when it comes to chemicals and such? It is also cheaper and more environmentally safe than buying and drinking from plastic water bottles all the time.

2. Décor

In my last article, I mentioned it’s all about quality over quantity when it comes to decorating your not so spacious living area, but that doesn’t cancel out the idea of bringing a few décor pillows, canvases and lights to hang up. By doing this you are making it somewhat homey for you because that will be where you will sleep. Eat and study for 9 months.

3. Workout clothes

Going to the gym is just something most people try to do in college. For some reason its like a trend, especially as a freshman, you want to show your parents that you are adulting right and taking care of your health.

4. Dishes/Utensils

Because you will not eat all the time in your dining hall and you do not eat like a cave man, unless you do that’s cool, not judging.

5. Cleaning Supplies

Dorm rooms do not self clean and boy do they get messy fast. Too be completely honest I cleaned almost everyday because for some reason being in such an old dorm with no AC and having to leave the window opened created world war 3 of dust accumulation in my room. If you have Asthma, Allergies or OCD like I do cleaning will be a daily or every other day thing for you.

6. A Fan

ITS ESSENTIAL. Whether you have AC or not you will want one maybe even two. No AC from experience is not fun and central AC is not that reliable on keeping you cool.

7. Garbage Bags

Because you are human and create trash, it's life.

8. A Power Strip

The Dorm Gods probably blessed you with one or two outlets for you and your roommate to share and because we are such a technology-advanced society and everything nowadays has to be plugged in its more than necessary to have a power strip and it also organizes everything too.

9. Medicine

One of many things adulting entails; the responsibility to take care of your health and the fact you can’t miss class or have sick days in which buying expensive medicine and regulating it yourself is a part of your life now. Mom and Dad are not there to remind you and give you your bubble gum flavored cold medicine anymore.

**From one adult in training to another: Read the directions on medicine bottles and if they are non-drowsy or not, you don’t want to start to fall asleep in class because you took night medicine (This totally most definitely happened to me).

10. Umbrella

Because it rains and you are now walking to and from buildings. Be prepared

Well I hope over the next week or two before move in day as you are packing up your life that these small (Big) suggestions will be helpful to you.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
