10 Things You learn While Working In A Restaurant

1. Sometimes Customers are going to be very RUDE!

In every restaurant, workers know the struggles of dealing with a rude customer. Sometimes they are so rude that you just want to cry and sometimes you just want to tell them off but you can’t. Self-control is very important when dealing with those customers, sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and go back to your happy places. You have to have very thick skin while working in a restaurant or otherwise customers are going to make you go crazy.

2. Managers can be very cool people.

All my life I was scared of managers; I thought they were mean human beings. On the contrary to this, my manager was the coolest person ever, he even knew how to WHIP! I was never afraid of asking for help because he would always be up for helping me out. I learned that managers can be decent human beings and you should never be afraid of them because they can become a great help.

3. The smell of food is going to follow you everywhere.

After spending a day at work you know that when you go home, the smell of food is everywhere. On your clothes, hair, and even on your cell phone, it's very annoying. Sometimes you could be out and about and you smell something that smells exactly like your work and you just shake your head.

4. Tips are your Best Friend

Tips have saved my life a couple of times when I didn’t have money. I spend my check so fast that by Monday of the next week, I only had a dollar left in my bank account. Whether it was two dollars or five it helped me out during the week, by buying lunch or even a bag of chips. Tips are very important in this job, it can help out a person so much. A small tip leads to a happy worker.

5. Co-Workers can become great friends.

Co-workers are the only people that understand the struggle of working at the restaurant, so you have to bond with them when it comes to that. They can become great friends who either give you a ride to work or even take you to Buffalo Wild Wings with them to complain about work after a long day of dealing with rude customers.

6. Being on time is key!

If you're late then what's the point of showing up? Being on time is so important! Not only you are showing that you want to be there, but that you are ready to get the job done. When you're late just take your phone and call the boss to let them know that you are going to be late. That shows responsibility and your bosses like that.

7. Pay days are Party days!

Pay days are the best days, that's it!

8. Understanding other fellow Restaurant workers.

I've learned what people have to go through while working in a restaurant. Now I know when to tip right and to not blame the phone worker or waitress for getting my order wrong. Everyone makes mistakes and I've learned to be okay with that. I now see those people as normal people, who are trying to make a living out of working there.

9. COFFEE IS A MUST!!

Coffee is the only thing that can help you get through the day!! Get yourself a large caramel iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts and you are set for a great day

10. Clocking out is the best feeling!

When you clock out, you feel great because if you can get through a day of hard working, you can go through anything in life.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
