1. Not everybody that you were friends with in high school will be there after graduation.

You will meet so many people in high school, some, you will be friends with for your entire life, others, you learn that after high school that they were just your friends in high school, don't stress it.

2. Just because you can wake up at 7am for high school does not mean you can wake up at 7am for college.

The work load in college is 10 times harder on your mind and body than it is in high school. So just relax and take it day by day, keep your body pure.

3. It is okay to go to a Community College.

9/10 times you are not the valedictorian of your graduating class, or the smartest kid in school, or get a ton of scholarships but that is okay. It is okay to go to a Community College don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you are as smart as the next kid going to Harvard University.

4. It's okay to not know what you're doing.

Sometimes you won't know what you're doing. You won't know how to do your own taxes, apply for student loans and pay your own bills and that is okay, you will figure it out.

5. Free textbooks are a PRIVILEGE.

Textbooks in college are so expensive and will literally leave you broke for literally the 15 pages you'll use during the semester. So appreciate the textbooks in high school.

6. Those are the best, stress free years of your life.

From the first day that you walk into high school, to the last day you walk out, those have to be the best 4 years of your life. I mean college is great too because you are one step closer to where you want to be, but high school is where you really find yourself, find your likes and your dislikes, find your hobbies, find a great band that changes your life, or maybe a person who changes your life. They are where you go through so many lessons and learn so much.

7. Your teachers are your best friends.

Don't get me wrong, there will be some teachers who will give you hell, because I know when I was in high school there were a few. But there is a certain few teachers in every high school that want the best for their students. They will steer you in the right direction more than your " true friends " will and believe me on that. Years down the road they will be there for you if you need help, so respect and love all of your teachers.

8. You won't like every job you have.

You will hate 99% of the jobs that you will acquire but that's fine because in the end, that job is just a stepping stool to greater things in your life.

9. Life gets to you more.

In College and the real world, you will realize there is no time for anything like there is in high school. You don't get an extension in life or for a paper due. But trust me, it will get better. You will learn to manage everything instead of just juggling it. It will get easier over time.

10. You are going to want to change your major in college at least three times.

When you graduate High School, you have your mind set on something, Let's say you enter College with your mind set on being a doctor, you will either contemplate changing your major and end up getting your masters in journalism, or you will realize that being a doctor is where you want to be in life and become a kick ass doctor like Dr. Christina Yang from Greys anatomy.

I just want you to know, that you can do this, so get up, graduate and don't settle for less than you deserve.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
