My biggest fear when I moved out was "What the hell am I going to eat?" I can't cook. I mean, I can make cereal if that counts...
So before you start cooking, make sure you have these things: salt, pepper, olive oil and butter. You can't go wrong with this stuff because you can basically put it on anything and make it taste a lot better. So now, the 10 things you cook when you first move out:
1. Spaghetti
It sounds easy. Right? But for whatever reason, the first few times you cook it, it is crunchy. Spaghetti shouldn't be crunchy. The trick "throw it against the wall. If it sticks, its cooked," is a complete lie.
2. Fancy Salad
By fancy salad, I mean, you throw a bunch of random foods that may or may not taste good together into a bowl and you eat it. Salad. Fancy.
3. Chicken
You learn that it is easy and its really hard to screw up...unless you consistently under-cook it--or over cook it. But don't worry, eventually, you'll get the hang of it.
4. Pizza Rolls
Microwave or oven. They're great and easy, and you may only burn them a couple of times. But you really can never go wrong, and there is such a large variety that you can just fill your freezer and go at it.
5. Stuffed Peppers
It is easier than you think, as long as you only use like three other ingredients. (P.S. Pinterest makes it really easy, so I advise you get an account)
6. More Chicken
I'm not kidding. You live off of this stuff. Lunch. Dinner. Lunch. Dinner. Snack. You can cook multiple pieces at once, and you're set. For like a week.
7. Take Out
Okay, so it is not technically cooking... but it is still food right?
8. Frozen Dinners
Mom and dad would be so proud.
9. Cereal
Yes...it does count.
10. Random sandwiches
The bread might be stale and the meat might look funky, but just follow it up with a nice cold beverage.
Don't worry though, all of these things only last for the first month or two. Because at some point, you will have gotten really sick of these foods so you force yourself to learn and adult. Make mama proud!
