I am only 19 years old, and I am very aware that I have a lot of life to live, but in the past couple of months, I have been trying to be more spontaneous. This means doing the things I have always been talking about. I assumed there was no better time than now and I had to finally commit to doing so. Here is a list of the top 10 things I will never regret doing (and I recommend you do too)!

1. Getting a tattoo

I spent over a year trying to convince myself to get a tattoo, but the pain scared me. My Pinterest was overrun with ideas like geometric flowers and dog paws, but I couldn't find one I was in love with. After one of the toughest years of my life, I decided to get XIV on my foot. XIV, the roman numerals for 14, represents that my life is going to be great and that I need to appreciate how lucky I am that my life is good now. 14 is my lucky number and now it is permanently on my foot.

2. Buying Guinea Pigs

I bought my first guinea pig three months ago from a PetSmart and I was instantly in love. Then, I bought a second one a few weeks later. Ernie and Archie have unique personalities. Ernie is a lot more uptight and is constantly pouting over something. On the other hand, Archie is just happy he is alive. They constantly make everyone laugh and they are two little loves in my life.

3. Getting a car

I made my first "big girl" purchase and got a new car. It's extremely insane and I constantly hate having to fork out money every month, but I am head over heels in love with my car. It took forever in the salesperson's office and lots of rides around the parking lot, but I handpicked the right one for me and now I ride around pretending like I am not showing it off.

4. Cutting off my hair

That's exactly what I did, but less dramatic and not by myself. I decided I was tired of my long locks and I wanted a new look, so I took to the salon. I lost most of my hair and asked for a chin-length bob. My hair had never been so short, but honestly, it was a nice change. I no longer looked like my old self and I felt like I was reinventing who I was. Plus, now my outfits look totally different with my new up-do.

5. Choosing myself

I know, how typical, right? Of course, you will never regret choosing yourself, but there is more to it than that. I was in a very unhealthy relationship, my life was jumbled, I was losing people I loved, and I was constantly on edge. So, I made the decision to choose myself first and take care of myself.

Once I did that, everything fell into place. My mental and physical health got so much better. The people I love are still in my life. Bad relationships have ended and are totally gone. It is a nice reminder that I had to make sure I was making myself happy too, not just going through the motions.

6. Buying jewelry for myself

I bought myself a nice gold ring with emeralds in it. Why? Because I wanted to my myself an expensive piece of jewelry to constantly remind me that I am a gem. I had never bought myself something so beautiful and it makes me feel like a queen.

So, I actually treated myself and got myself a nice piece of real jewelry, which I made a promise with. This ring symbolizes that I will take care of myself and be good to myself from here on out.

7. Deep cleaning

A few months ago, I deep cleaned my room and I am not just talking about cleaning the windows, or vacuuming. I took a black trash bag and trashed every single thing that was broken, I gave away anything I didn't want, I rummaged through all of my clothes, and I redecorated the entire thing.

I looked like a completely different room when I was done. It felt so good to let go of everything in there that was holding me back. I didn't attach myself to anything and it felt like clearing my mind up.

8. Taking day trips

Recently, I have taken the day to have fun. My boyfriend and I went to Boone (where I got my tattoo) and we had the best time. We went to random shops, ate cookies, ate burgers, looked at the landscape, etc. We made a whole day out of sightseeing and talking about my college experience. I have some of the best memories from that one day that I could never, ever replace.

9. Buying gifts

I started going to stores and no longer looking for myself. I bought books for baby showers because the sentiment behind them was too good to pass up. I bought packs of comic books for my brother because I know how much he loves them. I would buy milkshakes and ice-cream for my parents.

These little gifts made my day so much better because I knew these people would appreciate them all. It was rewarding to see how happy they were as they realized I was thinking about them all day.

10. Living

Do one thing a day that scares you. It honestly will change your life. The moment I started truly living and doing the things I have been waiting for, my life flipped. I got a tattoo, guinea pigs, a car, rings, and so much more, but the money was not the point of it all. The stories of how I got these things mean more to me than any dollar can give me. Each little thing has a memory all of its own, and it constantly giving me good memories. Living life to make myself happy was the one single thing I will never regret.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
