We love all of the time that we are given off for winter break. Finals just ended and we take the first week home to catch up on sleep and spend time with our family and friends during the holiday season! However, after the holidays are over and our families go back to work, we start getting a little bored. We also start getting a little irritated with our parents and are starting to want to get back to school so that we can go out with our friends. Here's a list of things that will make being home for the long break bearable and enjoyable.

1. Sleep

Napping and catching up on sleep is always a go-to option! Plus, you're at home in your own bed, so take advantage of that!

2. Netflix

Catch up on your shows that you didn't have a chance to watch at the end of the semester because you were too busy studying for finals. Winter break is also a perfect time to binge-watch movies or TV shows, maybe even start up a new series of a show that you've wanted to watch, but didn't have the time before to!

3. Spend time with family

They are more excited than you even know that you are home with them for so long. Take some time and spend some quality time with them.

4. Reach out to friends

Some friends you may have not even seen since they left in the summer to go back to school! Take the long break as a time to see them, as well the rest of your hometown friends that you missed while you were away at school.

5. Work

Call your boss and see if you can pick up a couple extra shifts at your job. It's never a bad idea to earn some spare cash.

6. Shop

Put those gift cards that you got for Christmas to good use!

7. Read a book

While you're at school, you are always so swamped with work that you never really have time to read a book that you actually want to read. Sitting curled up in blankets with a mug of hot chocolate reading a good book is actually extremely relaxing!

8. Winter activities

Take advantage of all the holiday activities that you can still do! Go snowboarding, skiing, ice skating; take advantage of the winter season!

9. Eat at your favorite hometown restaurant

There's nothing quite like getting your favorite meal from your favorite restaurant! It makes you not miss your dining hall food at all.

10. Take a road trip

Go on a late night spontaneous adventure with your friends or even take a trip to see a friend from school that doesn't live too far from you!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
