10 Things We'll All Miss About Billerica Memorial High School

BMHS has to be knocked down; maybe there's just too many memories crammed in the walls and that's why the ceiling tiles are falling down.

10 Things We'll All Miss About Billerica Memorial High School
BMHS

It's crazy to think that good ol' Billerica Memorial High School will soon be torn down and replaced with a bright shiny new one. With a new high school comes state of the art technology, freshly painted walls and new desks that probably roll around and are made for left handed people. When the old building gets torn down though, so will a ton of memories (after all, the old building was built in 1955). Sure the lockers didn't lock and the ceiling tiles were falling, but inside the halls at BMHS are countless memories, pep rallies, laughs, championship titles, and amazing times that we soon won't be able to revisit.

1. Your old locker

Going back to walk the halls of BMHS is always nostalgic, but even more so when you cross your old locker. Think about all the times you spent there pretending to search for a book when you were actually just avoiding going to B block physics (sorry, teach).

2. The weird smell that came from the boys locker room

Whether it was football, basketball or lacrosse season you could smell that locker room from down the hall in the old building. Hey boys, wash your equipment one time.

3. The weird change in tiles when you went from the "old building" to the "new building"

Lets face it, both buildings are ancient and decaying. And lets not forget how you couldn't get from the third floor of the old building to the third floor of the new building without going through a maze.

4. Not having one bathroom with a door on the stall

Who needs to pee in private anyways?

5. The courtyard that you never actually got to go in

Why take 30 seconds to get to your next class by walking through the courtyard when you could be late and walk up and down various flights of stairs to get to class?!

6. "Take a left at the purple staircase, if you hit the pool, you've gone too far"

Did anyone ever actually find the purple staircase?

7. Visiting the scene of the crime where your senior prank took place

Shout out to class of '13 for our killer morning cookout.

8. Ditching class in the summer months to cool off in the principals/athletic directors office

I remember thinking it had to be illegal to go to school with no A/C in any weather over 75 degrees.

9. The gym/field/court/rink that you practiced on. Every. Single. Day.

10. The halls with endless memories that will soon be replaced with a brand new school

Maybe the old school has to be knocked down, maybe there's just too many memories crammed in the walls and that's why the ceiling tiles are falling down. And who know, maybe the memories are left better in our minds instead of in the halls. Either way, when I think back to high school, I know the new and old building will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
