Thanksgiving is this week and that means we all get to spend some much needed quality time with our family. Here are ten things we all love about thanksgiving!

1. The Food

Thanksgiving is a feast! The beans, greens, potatoes, tomatoes, ham, yams, chicken, turkey...

2. Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Growing up the best thing to do was wake up to my mom and aunts in the kitchen and watching the parade with my cousins waiting for dinner to finish. Then promptly being told to help with the deviled eggs.

3. The Shade

Just like every other family we all have disagreements that we put aside for the holidays but there is always a little hiccup. Passive aggressive comments being dished out along side a cup of tea is always funny when it's not you.

4. Naps

Having a good ole food coma after a delicious meal is the one of the best feelings in the world. Having a full belly and a smile on my face is what I typically look like on Thanksgiving.

5. Football

After the naps and after dinner there's nothing like watching football with the family. Sometimes if you're lucky enough you can even start a game in the backyard with the family.

6. Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is an American classic that appetite time and generational transcends. After a good game of football watching this classic cartoon is a great way to relax.

7. Second Dinner

After you've completed the previous tasks I can guess that you've probably worked up another boundaries; so why not treat yourself to second dinner? After all, you have been working pretty hard all year why not treat yourself?

8. Dessert

There is always more than enough sweets in the kitchen during this time of year. Meaning you're going to have to run double time on that appetite in order to eat at the same rate during Christmas, YIKES!

9. Traditions

One of my favorite things about thanksgiving is hearing the stories from years past. Carrying out traditions and bringing everyone together for one day.

10. Being with Family

No matter what we all go through during the year coming together for thanksgiving is always going to be special and I hope all of you have a great thanksgiving!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
