10 Things We Can Never Do Enough

Some things in life should never be limited

1 Say I love you

Whether it’s a reminder to someone who knows we love them, or working up to courage to finally say it, telling a loved one how you feel will never go out of style. Actions may speak louder than words, but words give actions meaning.

2 Give someone a second chance

Life is much too short to carry around a grudge. A second chance doesn’t mean forgetting the wrongs of the past, but letting go of the feelings that hold you back from building a future.

3 Give ourselves a fresh start

We are always our own worst critic even though, at the end of the day, we are in charge of making sure we’re okay. No matter how tough things may be we owe it to ourselves to let go of any negativity that may be holding us down. It can be as simple as restarting a diet after indulging, or as drastic as shipping out to a new town to start over. Nothing in life has to be permanent and we have the power to make changes.

4 Pray

When things aren’t going our way, it’s easy to bottle up all of the emotions. In these moments we can find comfort in knowing that a simple prayer can rid the loneliness. Sharing our struggles, even only with God, grants us peace.

5 Say thank you

Showing appreciation for even the smallest acts of kindness encourages people to continue the kindness. Everyone wants to feel appreciation and giving gratitude is one of the simplest ways to do so.

6 Apologize

It’s better to apologize now than be sorry later. It’s human to let pride get in the way of our apologies, but doing so is the first step to overcoming whatever challenge is at hand. There is no reason to make someone believe we did something out of vengeance.

7 Lend a hand

Between charities, volunteer programs, and local shelters the opportunities to help others are endless. Nothing is more rewarding than putting a smile on someone’s face. It doesn’t require a grand gesture or sum of money, just a little time and effort can mean the world to someone.

8 Reorganize

Life is constantly changing, and it’s easy to let things become cluttered. Whether it’s your home, your computer, or your priorities, reorganizing allows us to take hold of something in the chaos.

9 Laugh

It’s simple: laugh more. Don’t hold back the belly laugh after a genuinely funny joke. Don’t be afraid of laughing at yourself. And ALWAYS get to know the funny guy, it’s worth it.

10 Love

Love yourself. Love others. Love your life. Open your heart and let in passion and joy. Share the deepest parts of your heart as often as you can and try to find love in every day.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
