Growing up in Gallatin, I didn't realize how much I appreciated how nice it is to live in a small town. All through high school things annoyed me and I took one too many things for granted. Moving away and living in such a large city like Chattanooga really showed me all of Gallatin's luxuries. Our town is a hidden gem, and I'm so thankful I was lucky enough to grow up there.

1. The Krystal's yield sign

We all know it, and we all hate it. Nothing is more annoying than sitting in this lane, stuck and waiting, while the car in front of you just sits there, at a full stop, waiting to go. I'm sure we've all been in this situation before while screaming, "it's a yield sign, you don't have to stop, just go!!!!"

2. The volleyball courts

It's common knowledge that on summer nights as soon as the sun sets the volleyball courts at Municipal Park are always jam packed with people.

3. Lock 4

Wanna fish? Go to Lock 4. Wanna watch the sunset on the lake? Go to Lock 4. Are you bored and just want to drive? Head on out to Lock 4.

4. Green Wave Football

We all know our town takes our Green Wave football very seriously. Friday night lights, pep rallies, ride in's, tailgating, you name it, if it has something to do with the Gallatin Green Wave it's a big deal and we all love.

5. Christmas and Homecoming Parade

If you don't attend at least one of these parades every year then you aren't a true citizen of Gallatin.

6. Community Support

The constant support shown from our community during football and basketball season is a driving force behind our sports teams success. Our community's support is what makes our town so great.

7. The Square

Third Thursday on the square, Squarefest- man does our town love our square. With the revitalization of the square in the last few years it has become the place to be, especially on the third Thursday of every month during the summer and the annual squarefest's in the fall and spring.

8.Ride In's

Whether you have participated in the ride in on Friday mornings during football season, our you have been the unlucky citizen stuck in the traffic it causes, you can't help but smile when you see those green and gold flags flying through the air.

9. Top Hog

That one place you go when nothing else sounds good. The food is cheap, constantly good, and the service is great. It's mamma's good ole cookin' without mamma having to cook!

10. Everybody loves Gallatin

Although we all have our grievances about our little town most of us can agree we wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
