New Year's Eve is the perfect day to create a vision board for the coming year. It is time to tap into the right side of your brain and rekindle that childlike creativity. While vision boarding is becoming increasingly popular it is important to understand what elements should be included in a vision board to aid you in your creative process.

Your Personal Goals

Paste images on your vision board that represent your personal goals for 2020. Give yourself the opportunity to define what your personal goals are because they're individual to you. Some categories personal goals could fall under are mental health, family, religion, friendships, relationship.

Paste images on your vision board that visually depict your educational goals. If you're a student this could be numbers to reflect a GPA goal, classes you want to take, or a diploma. For people who are not currently enrolled in school it is important to remember to never stop learning and accumulating new knowledge. Some examples are books you want to read, movies you want to watch, or skills you want to learn.

Your Fitness, Wellness, and Nutritional Goals

Affirmational Words/Phrases

Paste affirmational words and phrases on your vision board so they can serve as mantras for the coming year. Some examples are: "don't settle for less", "do it right or do it again", "bring something different to the table".

People Who Inspire You

Paste pictures of people that inspire you. This could be celebrities or pictures of people you know. Consider pasting images of your favorite artist, writer, actor, etc.

Your Priorities

Paste images on your vision board that reflect your priorities. For example, if your top priority is mental health, put images and phrases that will reflect your mental health goals.

Dreams You Want To Accomplish

Giphy

Lastly, paste images on your vision board that reflect your dreams. Think about what is on your bucket list and include images on there. Think about things you want to accomplish but fail to launch and put images that reflect those things. Think about the things that you are most passionate about and include images on your vision board that reflect that.

BEFORE VISION BOARDING

Before you begin your vision board, brainstorm about each of the elements above. Under each element brainstorm as many goals as you can think. For example, brainstorm all your fitness, wellness, and nutritional goals on paper. Then after you brainstorm for all 10 elements find images of each of those goals in magazines. Remember that there is no wrong way to create a vision board and feel free to adapt your own unique style to it.

AFTER VISION BOARDING

After you finish your vision board put it in a place you see every single day. This could be on the wall in your bedroom, on the fridge, or on your desk at work. Each day be sure to allot time to look at your vision board and self reflect about where you are in progress with your 2020 visions. Each day be cognizant of what your 2020 visions are and take steps to manifest those visions into reality. On days you feel like you're stuck in a rut reflecting back to element number 8 (People That Inspire You) and identify them on your vision board. Use your heroes as inspiration to keep pushing forward. Never forget, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them "(Walt Disney).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
