Growing up in the quaint yet fast paced county of Westchester, New York was nothing short of awesome. It had the best food (bagels included), the coolest places to hang out (AKA the Westchester mall), and of course it was the perfect location-- being close to the city and 'up state' too.
1. Westchester bagels are like no other.
Must be something in the water in Westchester because the bagels can't get much better.
2. When explaining to someone not from Westchester where Westchester is: "Oh, it's right outside the city."
Eh, close enough.
3. The Westchester mall was THE place to be as a kid.
Bet you thought you were so cool when you were walking around the mall without your parents
4. You could also be found without parental supervision getting Frappachinos from Starbucks.
We were sooooo cool.
5. Friday nights were spent at the ice skating rink.
It was basically tradition.
6. Sandwiches are referred to as "wedges" and nothing else.
It still confuses me when my non-Westchester friends call them anything else.
7. In the summer, or on the weekends Playland was packed.
And you were considered super cool if you could handle the dragon coaster
8. Pre-gaming on the metro north when you went to the city.
Nothing like a train ride with alcohol in a completely conspicuous unlabeled water bottle, am i right?
9. And when you didn't feel like taking a trip all the way to the city, bars in White Plains were pretty cool too.
10. Cant forget about referring to News 12 for any school delay, or weather forecast.
No matter where we go, we always know the Westchester will be our first and finest home.
