What is a Shopaholic? Well, a shopaholic is someone who is addicted to shopping, much like how other people can be addicted to alcohol. The difference is most people joke about being a shopaholic where being an alcoholic is frowned upon. The truth is being a shopaholic is not usually frowned upon unless you are me and you have parents constantly reminding you how you have to save money. I am a shopaholic, are you? Here are ways you can tell if you're a shopaholic just like me.

1. Whenever you have free time, it's shopping time!

If you have free time you bet you’ll be in a store. Most the time you say you’re just going to walk away to get out of your house but you always end up buying something or even try stuff on to buy in the future.

2. Shopping equals happiness.

Unlike most people who drink, binge eat, or work out when they are depressed, or have had a bad day, odds are you are taking yourself on a shopping spree.

3. You always have money.

Being a shopaholic people believe you always have money because you are always shopping which is not entirely true. You just spend all your money shopping and don’t save any money for more important things like students loans, school supplies, etc. Realistically you are just as broke as the rest of us.

4. Expect the unexpected.

You have too many clothes and shoes that sometimes you find something and completely forget you even had it, or those occasions where you are searching for something to wear and you find a shirt you bought months ago with the tags still on it. It’s like shopping all over again finding stuff you’ve never worn before or you even forgot you had in your closet.

5. You never have anything to wear.

Every time you go out or to a family event where you need to look decent, you look in your closet and you have absolutely nothing to wear or this is what you tell yourself. Actually, you have a full closet plus more but nothing you want to wear because people have already “seen” you in it or you have already taken a picture in that particular outfit.

6. You never have enough space.

You shop every chance you get so you can bet you do not have enough space for all of your clothes and shoes. Plus you never have enough hangers to hang your clothes up and your dresser is already full so you just stack your clothes in a chair or on the floor.

7. Black Friday is your Christmas

Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Christmas to the shopaholic. Sales, sales, and more sales. You make list of everything you are buying. Plus you number the stores you are shopping at in the order they open to make sure you get the best of the best deals.

8. Your friends are always borrowing your clothes.

Your friends know all you do is shop. They also know you probably have multiple of the same type of shirt so when they are in need of something for a themed party, you are the first one they go to and ask before going and buying something new.

9. Always find a reason to shop.

You have a dinner to go to? Go shopping. Going to a concert? Time to go buy a new outfit. No matter what the occasion is you find a reason to go shopping. To others, it may be an excuse but to you, it is very reasonable.

10. You want it all.

You can never have too many shirts or pairs of shoes. You find yourself in a shoe store where you found this super cute pair of brown boots you want. You think to yourself I already have 7 pairs of brown boots I don’t need anymore, but the inner you says who cares buy them anyways. Good example of how I own at least seven pairs of Toms.

If you find all of these fit you, you may be a shopaholic. These all fit me so I’m a shopaholic and they say the first step to solving a problem is admitting it right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
