To the woman who's going through sorority recruitment,

You are going through the process of finding 150+ new sisters and your home for the next four years. Recruitment can be a scary process. You walk into a room knowing not a single women. You spend the next 45 minutes talking to at least three different girls getting asked what your major is every other sentence it feels like. I was just like you a few years ago. I was terrified and I kept trying to be someone I was not until I walked into my new home. It was a room jammed packed with girls in mint skirts and a bunch of potential new members just like myself. You could compare this feeling when you walk onto the college campus of your dreams or when you find the perfect formal dress. There are so many tips and tricks I wish I would have known back then so I would like to share some words of wisdom with you!

1. Do not wear heels, wedges, anything that has any sort of lift in the heel.

Trust me your feet will thank you by the end of the week.

2. Do not listen to any of the rumors about your favorite sorority.

Chances are they are not true.

3. Comfort over couture always.

Yes dress nice and look cute but don't wear the tightest pair of pants you own and be forced to suck it in the whole night.

4. Try not to be someone you are not.

You will not click with everyone and that is perfectly okay.

5. Everything happens for a reason.

You might not end up where you want but you are ending up where you belong!

6. Keep an open mind!

If you do not get called back to your top choice it will be okay. It is not the end of the world!

7. Do not listen to what the frats say.

It's crazy how many girls feel a frat guys opinion matters more than their own.

8. Think of questions ahead of time to ask so you are not thrown on the spot!

Chances are you will leave these wish you had asked a certain question.

9. The sisters are just as nervous as you are!

It might be their first time recruiting.

10. Be confident, do not change your mind on a topic just to fit in with girls.

Most importantly remember to have fun! You are about to gain 150+ sisters! Get excited for bid day because it's basically christmas! You get a bag of goodies and everyone welcomes you to the chapter and you get bombarded with hundreds of friends requests! Do not be afraid to ask your recruitment counselor for advice! Remember why you are going through recruitment. Do not join just because you're a legacy or because you think you will get in will all the cool crowds. Join a sorority because you want to become a part of something that is bigger than you. You should join because you want to make an impact on you school and all of your sisters.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
