10 Things To Start Or Stop Doing In 2017
Accelerate Living

1. Start getting to know your professors more.

Sit at the front of the class, go visit their office hours, and participate during lecture. They'll appreciate you and you'll appreciate yourself.

2. Stop forgetting to take car of yourself!

Make sure you're getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and exercising frequently.

3. Start giving people the benefit of the doubt.

We're all in this together.

4.Stop using your phone as an excuse to not talk to people.

Whether you're on the bus or in the elevator, keep your phone in your pocket and talk to the people around you. Maybe you'll make new friends.

5. Start looking outside of yourself.

A bad day can be turned around by thinking about what you can do to help others.

6. Stop telling people you can't dance.

Everyone can dance. Rock it.

7. Start smiling more.

Smile at strangers, smile at friends, smile at everyone.

8. Stop thinking people can read your mind.

Tell people how you feel. If someone made your day by stopping and chatting with you on the way to class, tell them that. If you wish you hung out with someone more, tell them that.

9. Start trying to impress yourself.

The only approval you need is your own.

10. Stop being so hard on yourself.

Strive for progress, not perfection.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
