I think we can all agree that we are all pumped for Winter Break! So many fun times with family, friends, and holidays. The thought of being done with the semester and finals is so exciting! Some may have to go back and work over break, which is great because, money, duh! But for those of us who aren't, here are some pastimes for when you get bored over break!

1. Binge watch a show on Netflix.

Let's be real....this is everyone's favorite pastime activity. Watching episode after episode on Netflix is so much fun and so entertaining. Try to find something that you've never heard of before and just watch an entire season in a day, so much fun!

2. Craft!

Crafting is probably one of the most fun things to do while you're bored. There are endless ideas and Pinterest posts that will inspire you to do so much! There's no excuse for being a terrible crafter....I am the most uncreative, unartistic person in the world, but I can rock the cute simple things that I see on Pinterest. Just give it a try, even if you think you're terrible.

3. Clean

I know not everyone loves to clean, but going through your stuff can actually be kind of exciting. Especially when you haven't been home in a while and seen the stuff you kept there, it can be super fun to go through that stuff and realize how much you have and what you can get rid of. So many memories come back when you go through your stuff and can be super rewarding.

4. Cook/Bake

Now, cooking and baking isn't for everyone, but as I said before Pinterest does an amazing job of inspiring and you can find super easy simple recipes that could be really fun! I know for me, I love making the Tasty videos that you see on Facebook and Twitter. Plus doing it with friends can be fun and you can have a good laugh if it doesn't turn out well.

5. Spend time with your family

Okay, duh! Obviously, spend as much time as you can with your family over break because I'm sure they miss you so much and are so excited you're home! I know parents work which is where all the other ideas come into play, but make sure you spend lots of time with them no matter what you do.

6. Go to Target

If you think you can go into Target and only pick up a few things, you're wrong. I don't know a single person who has been able to do that. Target is SO much fun to wander around in and I promise you can spend hours there without having to really try. Once again, friends make this experience 10x better!

7. Go to the Humane Society

I don't know about you, but spending a few hours just petting and being with animals sounds like heaven to me. Finding a local Humane Society to volunteer at not only looks good on a resume and counts for community service hours, but it is so much fun!

8. Go see old friends

We all have some good friends from our hometown that headed in different directions than us. It's always so fun to catch up with them and see what they've been up to and if they attend another college hear all their great stories and you can tell yours. It honestly feels like you never left them, but telling all your stories is so much fun and it's great to keep in touch with people you used to be with all the time.

9. Go on a hike/play in the snow

Not everywhere get's snow like we do in Pullman, WA, but if you do it's always so fun to get bundled up and go outside and enjoy the snow. You can build a snowman, sled down hills, or even just take cute pictures in it. If there's no snow, go for a hike! Hikes are good for you physically as well as mentally. They are so refreshing and getting out into nature makes you appreciate it way more.

10. Read a good book

I'm not a huge reader, but sometimes if you find a really great book it's so much fun to make a cup of coffee or hot cocoa and wrap yourself in a huge blanket and just read. It's so relaxing and reading is so good for your brain, so even if it's not your thing, give it a try because it can be amazing if you find the right book.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
