From the day that a little girl is born, she is told that she needs a man to make her happy. I am here to tell you that it is not true! I entered my first legitimate relationship when I was thirteen and I was not single until I was eighteen years old. This past week was one year since that relationship ended and I became single. I am watching all of my friends get engaged, buy houses, and have kids. I thought my window to find a husband and start a life was closing quickly.

In today’s society, being single is no longer a positive thing. I look around and see girls rushing into relationships just because they want a boyfriend. Sit down and truly think about what you want in a husband, girls. Make a list and stick to it when you meet a man that you find yourself falling for. In the meantime, be single and enjoy life to its fullest.

1. Travel

Go see the world! The logistics of planning a trip can be a complete nightmare, so you might as well do it while you’re single. The Eiffel Tower, Pyramids, the London Eye and so many other possibilities.

2. Road Trip

Take a road trip with your best friend! This is a great time to bond even closer with her and to forget about him!

3. Find Yourself

Before you can know what you want in a spouse, you must first know who you are. As cheesy as this sounds, it is true. Take time for yourself! Have spa nights, go out with the girls, and do whatever makes you smile the biggest and laugh the hardest.

4. Workout

You’ve always wanted that beach body. Now is the time to make it a reality! Getting into the gym will make you feel better and give you incredible confidence!

5. Pursue Your Passion

You now have all the time in the world, use it to help you grow in your hobbies. Take that painting class or volunteer at the animal shelter.

6. Push Yourself

Being single is the perfect time to push your boundaries just a little further. If you’re scared of heights, go ride a roller coaster. If you aren’t very social (like me), go out and make some new friends.

7. Read

Sit back, light some candles, relax, and read a book. Whether it is a horror, mystery, or romance novel, take time to get lost in another world.

8. Concerts

Who is your favorite band? Spend that extra money and go see them in concert! It will be an exciting and unforgettable experience!

9. Enjoy It

Don’t forget to enjoy it! Have fun and make it a time of happiness and self-discovery!

10. Faith

Most importantly, don’t forget that the only love that you will ever need is from the Lord. He will give you an unconditional love that will never fade no matter what happens in life! Take time each and every day to strengthen your relationship with Him that will last beyond you being single.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
