These are a few things you can do that might help you with your anxiety. Some of these things may or may not work for you because anxiety is different for everyone, but it doesn't hurt to give some things a try. This list was made for those who are trying to find ways to cope with anxiety or are trying to find new ways to. I hope this helps someone out there!

1. Read a good book.

Reading a good book can help you keep your mind off of roaming thoughts that might be cluttering your mind. It’s a great distraction because you get to run away to an imaginary place for a while.

2. Listen to music.

Listening to music can do the same as reading a good book! You can focus on the lyrics and maybe even make up a music video in your head. In the meantime, you might find yourself calming down.

3. Get artsy.

Whether it’s drawing, painting, or doing a DIY project, getting creative will put your focus on something else other than whatever might be troubling you. Thanks to websites like Pinterest, you can find thousands of art projects to try. You’ll even get to get something cool out of it!

4. Watch YouTube videos.

This is one of my personal favorites. I have used YouTube videos to calm myself down after panic attacks or just to unwind after a day full of anxiety. Find YouTubers you like and watch their videos! You can keep up with the new videos they put up and even go back and watch their old ones. My favorites are grav3yardgirl, Simply Nailogical, and ThreadBanger.

5. Write it out.

Writing out your worries and how you feel is a great way of letting out your frustrations. This is also great when you have no one to talk to about how you feel. If you find this helps you with your anxiety, keep a journal or diary and write in it as much as you please.

6. Get active.

For some people, going for a walk or working out helps them with their anxiety. Scientifically speaking, it will release some endorphins that should lift your mood. It can also give you some energy and keep you busy.

7. Take a long, warm shower or bath.

This may seem odd and not like the others on the list, but trust me, this can be helpful. The warm water can help you relax your body. And if you’re feeling fancy, treat yourself with a bath bomb or your favorite shower gel.

8. Call a friend.

If you would rather be alone while you are feeling anxious, this might not work for you, but feel free to give it a try. A call to a good friend can uplift you and bring a smile to your face. You can vent to them, talk about fun and random things, or catch up.

9. Do word puzzles.

Word puzzles, like word searches or crossword puzzles, can help you center your attention on something other than your running mind. These are easy to find too! Places like Walmart, Dollar Tree, and even the Internet can give you a wide variety of word puzzles.

10. Play your favorite video game.

Video games, ranging from a simple app on your phone to Call of Duty, are some things I have seen people play to keep them relaxed. For me, a game that has always helped me with my anxiety is The Sims. If you don’t have a favorite game, you can always explore the possibilities!

I hope this helps someone out there who has been looking for ways to deal with their anxiety. If you don't find yourself doing these things, a good tip is to just find something you love doing that will keep your mind off of your anxiety. Anxiety can be very hard and scary, but always remember that you are not alone and you can make it through this!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
