10 Things To Do On Your Day Off

Although it may be summer, for us college students that doesn't mean that the work stops. We all have internships, jobs or other obligations that keep us going, going and going in the summer that makes it anything but relaxing. While it is important to get our work done, make money or get experience, it is still important that we get some quality R&R. Here are some of the best ways to relax on a well deserved day off.

1. Beach Day

The beach is the perfect place to get your relaxation on. Perfect that tan, read a book, or catch some waves. No matter what, this is sure to be a stressless day on your much needed break.

2. Spa Day

Treat yo' self on this fine day off. Go get a manicure, a pedicure, or both! Nothing is more relaxing than sitting in a massage chair while being pampered, so this is a great activity for a break.

3. Shopping

It is time to put some of your hard earned money to use! Treat yo' self even more by getting some new items to add to your closet. Nothing feels better than a little, or a lot, of retail therapy.

4. Movie Day

Sometimes the best days are the days you do nothing at all. So sit back, relax and enjoy a day of endless movie watching from the comfort of your own home, or even your bed. Add some snacks and this day has just been made.

5. Zoo Day

It is great to feel like a little kid again. The zoo is the best place to feel this way. With all the cute animals and creatures everywhere, this is an excellent way to spend your day off.

6. Downtown

Exploring your own city is a great way to spend the day. We sometimes take what is around us for granted, so use this time to your advantage and see what your great city entails. I bet there is a lot to do in your own town that you didn't even know about.

7. Workout

Use this time to get the workout in that you never have the time for. Get those endorphins pumping and you will feel nothing but happy all day long. Take this time for yourself and enjoy a good workout without having to rush anywhere after.

8. Play with Puppies

Get some puppy loving in on your day off. This is a great way to relieve stress and you get some fluffy cuddles while doing so. Puppies are the cutest and they will be sure to make your day.

9. Pool Day

If the beach is too much for you, take yourself to your local pool for a nice, relaxing swim. You get the tanning and the swimming without the sandy mess.

10. Family Day

Hang with your family. It is so relaxing and comforting to have a day with your family. These are the people who make you laugh and support you no matter what. What a fantastic day to spend with the best of the best.

No matter what you do on your day off, it is important to make sure that you take some time for yourself. So be a little selfish and make sure you get that time, even if it is just a day, because we all need a little time to ourselves here and there.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
