The good thing about Orono, is that even though it's small, it's surrounded by so many other small towns that are easy to travel to and have more to offer, depending on what you want to do.

1. Go for a walk around downtown Orono

The area is prettier than you'd think!

2. but don't forget to stop at Nest for a smoothie!

If you're looking for a fresh, healthy smoothie, go to Nest, they have the best smoothies around if you don't want to make one at home. But once you get in there you might decide that you'll pass on the smoothie.. there's a huge display case full of muffins and bagels and cupcakes that are all homemade and delicious.

3. or The Family Dog for an ice cream!

If you're picky like me, they have a flavor for you too, the confused dog. It's all of the good flavors you couldn't decide between all in one. Could it get any better than that?

4. Get some friends together and take a small trip out of Orono and go to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor

Getting there super early and watching the sunrise is a MUST. You could also spend the day at Sand Beach, or hike Beehive. When you're done, go downtown and stop to get something to eat or check out the shops. Anywhere you go in Bar Harbor is going to beautiful, and it's a nice day trip when you want to go on a little adventure.

5. If you don't want to drive very far for a nice view, go to the Orono Bog walk

It's kind of a long walk, so make sure you go on a day where it's not too hot out so you can actually enjoy it!

6. If you don't mind driving, take a weekend trip to Portland/Old Port

If you're looking for a place to run or walk, you can go to Back Cove right outside of the city, it's a path that goes along the bay and it even takes you along Tukey's bridge right over the bay. I would walk it everyday if I lived down there! When you're done, get a hotel in downtown Portland and go out with some friends around the Old Port. In the morning you can stop by The Holy Donut and get a potato donut! (They're better than what you're thinking).

7. Go to a beach!

The best Maine beaches to go to on a hot summer day: Old Orchard Beach, Sand Beach, Echo Lake, Pine Point Beach, Popham Beach, and Ogunquit Beach (all of which are a drive, but worth it)

8. If you want to go out in Orono, you can easily go bar hopping downtown

You could go to the Bear Brew, the Roost, Pat's Pizza, Family Dog, Margaritas, Woodman's, there's even an Orono Brewing Company. Even better, they're all within feet of each other!

9. Go mini golfing

Blackbeards in Bangor has a huge mini golf course, and it's super fun to do once in a while with friends. It also has go karts and batting cages if you want to do more than mini golf.

10. But before summer ends, make sure you attend a concert at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion in Downtown Bangor

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
