Omaha, Nebraska is home to one of the most famous zoos across the country. Spanning over 100 acres, the Henry Doorly Zoo is home to multiple animals and has over a million visitors each year. Each exhibit will have you in awe, creating a whole new element of fun for families and friends. Here are some must see exhibits while visiting the Henry Doorly Zoo...
1. Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium
This is a MUST SEE item when travelling the the Omaha Zoo. There's a 70 foot shark tank and many hands on interactions for children. Plus, you can get up close with many different aquatic animals.
2. Desert Dome
The world's largest indoor desert is under the world's largest glazed geodesic dome, so that's pretty neat as it is. This has become quite the landmark in Omaha. Another MUST SEE item while at the zoo.
3. Lied Jungle
As America's largest indoor rainforest, this exhibit features waterfalls, gibbons, monkeys, and other animals swinging around and also a few hippos chilling around. Be sure to take a quick picture on the bridge and have lunch at the Tree Tops Restaurant, right next to the windows.
4. Kingdoms of the Night
Right underneath the Desert Dome, this exhibit features the animals in the world's largest nocturnal exhibit.
5. African Grassland
Newly built, though it looks bland, the African Grassland is home to many different animals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and much more.
6. Hubbard Gorilla Valley
Get up close and personal with gorilla's while watching them swing across their exhibit. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can see them bang on the widows...don't worry they won't get out.
7. Expedition Madagascar
This exhibit has some of the most amazing and unique animals from Madagascar, including the Giant Jumping Rat.
8. The Skyfari
This isn't really a exhibit, but it's a real foot-saver only if you don't mind heights. Gliding over many different outdoor exhibit, this gives you a birds eye view of almost everything the zoo showcases.
9. IMAX movie
Nothing beats watching movies about your favorite animals in 3D, plus if you have a zoo membership you can watch the movie for free!
10. Garden of the Senses
This area of the zoo really lets your senses go wild. The birds, flowers, and fountains really makes this area relaxing while taking a quick break before heading off to see the many other exhibits.
