Thanksgiving is almost here! I personally could not be more excited. There is nothing better than spending a day with family, eating lots of delicious food and watching football (well more like listening to football in the background). In spirit of this fabulous holiday, I give you: 10 Things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

1. No school!

Okay, this is a really simple one, but I am seriously so happy to have a little break from classes. It's that time of the semester where a long weekend and a little R & R is much needed.

2. Family and Friends

Thanksgiving is a great time to really evaluate the relationships and people in your life. It is so important to take time and thank the people in your life that have stood behind you and supported you through it all every day, but especially on Thanksgiving.

3. Your job/school

Okay so your job and classes may not always be peaches and cream, but you are working toward your goals and progressing in life. That is always something to be thankful for!

4. Turkey Day Food!

It's the meal you wait all year to have. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie...what else could you ask for?

5. Weekends!

The best 2/7 of the week! Seriously, though, these two days are my motivation for the rest of the week. Monday through Friday is just a way to pass time between weekends.

6. Laughter

There are few things as beautiful as the simple joy of laughter. It is one of the most pure things, and it can make your day instantly better. "Laughter is the best medicine."

7. Nature

This planet is truly a gift. It is easy to take for granted all the amazing things Earth has to offer, so send a shout out to Mother Nature this Thanksgiving!

8. Simple comforts

You know, like fuzzy blankets, hot tea, bubble baths and hugs. The small things that just make life a little bit better.

9. Pets

There is something about the unconditional love of a pet that just makes life so much better. Give your pet an extra tight squeeze this Turkey day!

10. Today

You woke up today, you are loved and you have the opportunity to make your day great! That is something to be extremely thankful for.

The list could go on and on. There are so many things to be grateful every day. Take some time this thanksgiving to give attention to all the amazing things going on in your life because all though it may not seem like it at times, there really are so many incredible things to be thankful for. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
