I am and have always been taller than everyone else.

It's a gift and curse. In stores you can reach everything on the top shelves and can often get better products because they are out of reach for most people. However, there are annoyances that come with being super tall. There will always that one person that will question your entire life because you are exceedingly tall.

This person will want to know every single detail about your tallness and won't stop until they've figured you out. These are the top ten comments about my height.

1. "Wow! You're really tall!"

Shhh! Don't tell anyone! I'm trying to keep it a secret.

2. "How tall are you?"

5'11". "Really? You must be taller than that." Why would I lie about how tall I am to a stranger?

3. "Your parents must be really tall."

Yes, they are. My mom is 5'10" and my dad is 6'5". I come from a long lineage of giraffes.

4. "Where do you find clothes that fit?"

The same places that you do. Just in the "Extra-Long" size.

5. "You're so tall! You must have played basketball!"

Yes, I fulfilled the tall girl stereotype. I played basketball for nine years, but that shouldn't be the first thing you assume about me. I don't assume that you play Mini-Golf because you are short. (I'm also very sarcastic).

6. "Do you have to wear those heels? You're already tall enough."

Yes, I do have to wear these heels. If I was 5' 4" you wouldn't be questioning it.

7. "How's the weather up there?"

It's a little cloudy, but the view is great.

8. "Do you like being tall?"

Yes! Even though strangers always ask me all these tall questions.

9. "Have you always been this tall?"

I've always been a lot taller than my peers. People began asking me where I was going to college at age 11.

10. "Would you rather be tall or be short?"

Tall. The answer will always be tall. Bending over to pick something up will always be a pain, but I love being able to reach everything.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
