Finally college is over and everyone is starting to settle into their summer. There is one question that everyone is asking themselves though. What should I do this summer? There are endless possibilities that the warm weather brings you and your friends. So here are 10 ideas to help make your summer more fun wherever you go over the next four months.

1. Go to a music festival.

Summer is the best time to get together with a bunch of people and just jam out at a concert or music festival. It’s fun that can go on all night.

2. Road trip with your besties.

Grab some friends, hop in a car, and see where you go. Not knowing is the best thing and you can make memories with your friends that will last a life time.

3. Go and chill on the beach.

Pull out a towel and just lay in the sand, or go and jump and swim in the ocean. The beach is the perfect place for a summer getaway. It’s a place to just relax and catch some of those summer rays.

4. Have an all-day Netflix movie marathon.

Sometimes just laying around all day can be a good thing. Pull up Netflix and watch your favorite show that you’ve missed while you were at school.

5. Make a DIY day.

Take some time this summer and get crafty. Grab your friends and make a project that you can wear or something for your dorm room. See what artistic part of you comes out.

6. Do something you’ve never done before.

Doing something out of the ordinary can always be scary, but fun at the same time. Whether it’s trying a new food or a new sport or going skydiving it will be something you haven’t done before. Try it, you may surprise yourself.

7. Sleep under the stars.

Go on a camping trip that is somewhere beautiful. Take a few night and connect with nature with your friends. Sleeping under the stars is something everyone should do once. Plus who doesn’t love a campfire and s’mores?

8. Have a BBQ with all your friends.

Just get permission and don’t burn down the house. Get out the grill, make some good food, open the pool, and turn up the tunes for a fun night that everyone can enjoy.

9. Make every second count.

Do everything you possible can to make this summer count. Once it’s gone it can’t return which is the sad part about summer. Go on adventures with your friends, meet new people and try new things, and most of all just have fun.

10. Take a picture every day this summer.

Take a picture at the end of every day this summer to commemorate every memory you make. Make a Flipagram Instagram video at the very end to look back and remember all the memories you made.

The best times are with friends and when you’re doing something fun that everyone loves. Summer only lasts a short time, four months to be exact. So make the most out of it with every memory possible.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
