10 Things That Only People With Uncommon Names Would Understand

In other words, our names are unique, as some people like to call it. Having a unique name may allow you to stand out from the others, but it may also drive you to the point of insanity sometimes. At the end of the day us uncommon named peeps can come together with several things we mutually endure on a daily basis. Here are just a few:

1. That 0.5 second blank stare you get when you introduce yourself to someone new.

It's as if you just spoke gibberish to someone. Yes, I just said my name. No, it's not a different language. Then, the person you are talking to will go on to repeat your name in order to clarify that what they heard was right. Occasionally, we will get an "Oh thats different! Or a "that's pretty!"

2. That pause you get before a new teacher reads your name for attendance.

Come on now, it's not that hard - just sound it out. If you are a teacher, you must be smart! At this point, you don't even have to say my name, I already know it's me based on that pause. Then while everyone else just has to respond with a "here," you have to respond by saying, "it's Deanna."

3. You're used to having your name spelled wrong at Starbucks.

Well, thats one way to spell it, I guess. It's as if the barista got the first and last letter of your name but just jumbled a bunch of random letters together in the middle. Hey, but it's what's inside the cup that matters, right?

4. You're so used to being called the wrong name, that you just respond to anything even close to your name.

After being called the wrong name for so long, you just give up trying. It's too much of an effort to say, "Actually, its so-and-so." Anything remotely close to your name works for you now.

5. You get a little heart broken that moment someone you thought you were getting to know says your name wrong.

I thought I could trust you and you don't even know my name? You always feel that progressive crack in your heart as a person you think you are getting to know says your name wrong. Now you begin to question your friendship.

6. A souvenir with your name on it is just nonexistent.

We constantly search in souvenir stores for items with our names on it, but come out defeated. Why does everyone else get a souvenir with their name on it? People need to start thinking about those of us with unique names. And the worst part is when you are looking for souvenirs with your name on them, you find ones that have even weirder names than yours on it.

7. Your friends will call you by the wrong name to annoy you.

Okay you don't have to rub it in. I already get it enough, I don't need this from someone who actually knows my name. This is when we choose not to respond at all.

8. Microsoft Word autocorrects your name.

I think I know how to spell my own name. I don't need it to be corrected. It's not like I spelled my own name wrong. That stupid red line that pops up under your name saying you spelled it wrong is just a day ruiner.

9. You have about a million nicknames.

You probably have so many nicknames that you forget what your actual name is in the first place. Most of your nicknames probably originated from times that people have mispronounced your names. So they then just call you by your first initial or something else.

10. When people say your name right, they automatically are respected.

I think I just teared up a little. Finally, someone got it right. When someone gets your name right the first time, you just applaud a little in your head. However, when someone spells it right, you give them a little standing ovation in your head.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
